'07 AZ OL Kris O'Dowd (Southern Cal Signee)

Most likely to focus on THE GAME...

We still have five kids visiting this weekend.

1.) Picking not choosing...
2.) He is not rated as high as other lineman...
3.) Most of all he is seen as an interior lineman and we have plenty of them...
4.) We needed an extra position to take a skill player we can't turn away...

Could be, but none of those are anything we haven't known for awhile. Unless you are running out of visits I don't know why you wouldn't want to keep a kid in play. No matter how many are lined up we all know things can change.

Maybe he said something that made the staff believe there was no intention on his end. Or it could be something as simple as a scheduling issue where the staff couldn't give him the attention he needed at a particular time so they agreed he would not visit, but the wording came out as an OSU cancel.

I don't think it is being re-scheduled, but I don't know that for sure. The fact is they have two other guys (Davis and Jackson) they are looking at that can play tackle and probably going to get one of them. Unfortunately for this situation, it appears from what I have heard that most coaches project Kris playing inside at the next level, which is not what the staff is looking for.

Well, a poster on BN indicated that Kris's HS team Salpointe is playing friday night in a playoff game. That would make traveling to Columbus quite difficult and this might be the reason he's cancelling his visit.

Time will tell, but I have a feeling the coaches want Kris here for a entire weekend and a friday night game would cut that short. Rather than rushing him onto a plane Saturday morning, a later visit would allow more time to meet with the coaches. Maybe BigBro will enlighten us.

Wow. Cannot say I'm not disappointed. He seemed like a player you took, regardless what you were "looking for."

My feelings as well. I always try to trust the staff but with us being in on about 4 top rated tackles in '08, I would think we may want to take another interior guy, especially when that guy is O'Dowd.

Bottomline here guys is that we have others on our board that are a higher priority because of our need for Tackles (like Davis, Jackson, and James Wilson, as has been stated)... It's a numbers crunch decision. I'm sad that it didn't work out with Kris, but I will wish him the best of luck wherever he lands...
As for the '08 kids, I think Adams, Long, and Shugarts are the most likely tackles. I think Shugarts is the most versatile, so I could see him moving inside with Brewster (of course assuming that they would all come here )...

Well said...

I think Adams and Long are tackles...Brewster to me looks like a guard and Shugrats looks like he could play any of the five spots on the line...
