GAINESVILLE - Florida safety Jamar Hornsby used a credit card
belonging to the father of a deceased former UF student more
than 70 times and charged more than $2,800 worth of merchandise
throughout the state, according to the Alachua County court records.
Hornsby, who has spent two seasons on UF's football team,
was arrested around 5:30 a.m. Friday at the Alachua County
Jail on charges of misdemeanor credit card theft and felony
fraudulent use of a credit card. He surrendered to authorities
at the jail and, according to the jail's on-line database,
remained in custody there until about 2 p.m. Friday,
when he was released on his own recognizance.
