Mountain West Conference (official thread)

From out here, it sounds like folks were going to paint over "Mountain West Conference" with "Pac 12 Conference" logos. Since every team but two fleeing the Pac 12, guess it was either steal teams or die. The local fave, Fresno St folks are happy that they finally can call the Pac 12 home (has been on a wish list forever). Never mind that the name and fame is very diluted. As to 'moving up' Grand Canyon U to MW status, kinda a ho-hum thing. Have been to that campus, and had some local HS talent go there (one kid applied, and had an e-mail acceptance the next day). Guess we'll see how many lawyers get into the mix, and how many lawyers get rich. Depending on where the court is held, might go with some popcorn and watch the show.

2025 January through Fall Camp BMW Thread

In fairness, OSU offered to push this years matchup to Sunday evening since NFL isn’t playing yet and it’s a holiday weekend.

Texas declined and said they’d prefer the original date/time.

I agree in general though….OSU shouldn’t be beholden to Saturday noon games in every top 5 matchup.
Yea that means nothing. There should not had to been an offer. This should have been a 7pm start time after the Semi finals

Football Coach/Staffer Josh Boyer (Official Thread)

How new defensive coach Josh Boyer will help the Ohio State football team

The Ohio State football team hired a new defensive coach. Here's how he will help them.

It's certainly strange for the Buckeyes to make a hire just three weeks before they take on the Longhorns in the first game of the season, but this move is only additive. He won't have that much say in the defense, and he will only help coach the team a little harder.

Boyer has a history with Patricia, as he coached with Patricia for several years while he was with the Patriots. He hasn't coached since 2022, which is a big concern. That's why it's good that he shouldn't have a say in how the defense is called this season.

With the new rules allowing college teams to hire as many coaches to be on the sidelines as they want, this move can only be positive for the Buckeyes. They are expecting him to just help with the secondary, as well as coaching up defensive players to be better.

This is a low-risk, high-reward move to make, even if the Buckeyes hired him just a few weeks before they open up the 2025 season. They feel like they should still be very good on the defensive side of the ball, even without Boyer. He will only help that cause.

Dallas Cowboys (Official Thread)

Referee explains sideline collision with Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb: 'It's more of a rare situation'

Lamb absorbed one of the biggest hits of the game despite not being in uniform against the Los Angeles Rams

However, Lamb still ended up being on the receiving end of one of the most violent hits of the night despite being in a hat, t-shirt and sweatpants on the sideline. He ended up being penalized for "a foul against an official" that officially went down as an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty while watching Dallas' offense. Lamb began to celebrate Cowboys wide receiver Jonathan Mingo breaking wide open and beyond the Rams' secondary defenders. Lamb's celebration led him to the thickly-painted, white portion of the sideline where Lamb put his hand up and turned his back to everyone but Mingo flying downfield. An official was sprinting down the thick white portion of the sideline to keep up with the play, and he was so locked in on the action that he didn't notice Lamb until it was too late. Both of them went flying when the official smacked into Lamb's back on the tail end of the sequence.

"It's sideline interference. CeeDee Lamb was standing in the restricted white border area, which is our area to officiate the game. The official on the play was focused solely on doing his job, and he ran into CeeDee Lamb, who was standing in that restricted area," referee Alex Moore said postgame via a pool report. "That's what happened. And with that contact, it's an automatic foul."

Neither Schottenheimer nor Lamb argued the call, so all parties were able to move forward conflict free.
