That said, the Cleveland native says his interest in Ohio State is high because of the track record former Tarblooders have of doing big things for the Buckeyes.

“I mean, this is the goal. The goal every year is to get to Ohio State,” Bailey said while attending Ohio State’s camp at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center last Thursday. “At Glenville, like that's the goal. Either you go to the team up north or you're down here.”

Like Bailey, Reese wasn’t the most highly touted recruit out of high school (he was ranked as the No. 212 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings the 2023 class), yet became an All-American linebacker in Columbus. Also like Reese, Bailey plays both linebacker and edge rusher at Glenville, and Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia has told Bailey that the Buckeyes would use him similarly to how they used Reese as a hybrid linebacker/edge rusher.

“They plan to use me just how they used Arvell, just how they're going to use Cincere,” Bailey said. “They don't want to just use my talent in one spot.”

Just like when Colorado swung a bag to sway London Merritt away from us. There's a high chance he's in the portal next January. Bailey is a guy who needs a good amount of development. Colorado has shown they aren't the place for that. Can't blame him for taking the bag though.

Really feel the same here. Bailey is a developmental guy with high potential, but maybe him developing elsewhere and taking a look again if he's in the Portal is not the worst thing in the world. Would have liked to have him in this class, but we're going to be just fine where he would've slotted in.

That seems to be what's going on a lot with Colorado. Kids will go there because they know they will likely get to play right away and then most of them bolt after 1 season. 64 players entered the portal after 2025 and 65 entered the portal after 2024. It does make sense to go get a year of P4 playing time right away especially if they are tossing you a decent bag as well.

Coach Prime's strategy is hitting the Portal though, so even when he does lose kids, he's ready to replace them. 78 kids transferred in, in the last 2yrs and 120+ transferred out. Yet they brought in 34 HS signees, Bailey will get to play, but not sure how much development he will have.
