The home of Ohio State basketball got a makeover this offseason.

As the Ohio State men’s and women’s basketball teams held their first official practices of the preseason on Monday, there was a new and improved scoreboard hanging above the main court at the Schottenstein Center. The court is also now surrounded by bigger and brighter ribbon boards, bringing a more lively feel to the Buckeyes’ arena.

We got our first look at the new scoreboard and ribbon boards on Monday as Ohio State invited the media to the Schottenstein Center for the opening day of practice.

In addition to the new visual elements, Ohio State also installed a new audio system at the Schottenstein Center this offseason, replacing the original 27-year-old sound system “with a modern, performance-driven design that includes new line arrays, a new back-of-house audio system, mixing console, and support infrastructure located 135 feet above the court.”

The renovations to the Schott, which were completed this summer, came with a $5.2 million budget approved by the Board of Trustees last year.
