OC Arthur Smith (Official Thread)

Smith runs a lot of 12 personnel with play action and RPOs. That's pretty much what Indiana just used to win a freaking natty.
With a masterful, best in class QB who is an unfair comparison to Julian due to age.

That IU offense had so much experience, consistency, and surprisingly decent talent in 12 personnel.

The result?
- limped past Iowa
- played okay vs Oregon
- played okay vs PSU
- limped past OSU
- Narrowly beat Miami, despite being gifted 7 points on special teams.

That's not to undermine their effort, or how dominant they were at other times. But if OSU looked like Indiana most of the year, and then played like that against IU & Miami, the fans would not be pleased.

Winning cures all.

S/C Coach Mickey Marotti (National Champion)

It’s like a lot of stuff shared here. Portnoy, Smith, etc. it’s like I tell my dog ‘leave it’
That might be the best rebuke of Portnoy I've ever heard, and so succinct
They are both frat boys but McAfee at least seems about as likeable as a fray boy can be while Portnoy is just a douche canoe
McAfee is absurd and loud, but can also be very supportive and respectful. He lacks tact, not consideration.

Well golly. With the depth of knowledge and understanding in BP, one would wonder why Day & Co didn't run this hire by us before he pulled the trigger. "in the know" could mean many things. Am not an NFL follower, and tend to watch the players more than the coordinators. Am certain that Day asked his trusted sources about him, and came away satisfied. So, much like Patricia, Buckeye Nation is taking a 'wait and see' stance on this guy. Hopefully (!), he pans out like Patricia did. PS, we'll see how well the D looks, filling the holes left by players moving on. Second and third years are the truth years. Point being, Day felt secure enough with the hire to trust his $10+million salary to this hire, so who are we to judge?

There are some supposed ball-knowers on this board who actually might not know as much as they think they do.

Thee Ohio State University News

TIME magazine ranked Ohio State 33rd on a list of the top 500 universities in the world.

It's a very interesting read, and while the Ivy+ schools all rank near the top, it really puts that in the perspective of how skewed they are towards admitting students from families with incomes over 600K.

The ranking places emphasis on the extent to which students achieve extraordinary success, for instance in patenting new inventions or rising to leadership roles in business. These lists help us understand where students are likely to achieve the greatest success and contribute most to society as the world order shifts
