Kinda hard to crash the boards with only one big. McDuff is and will always put a guard first team on the floor. Four littles and one big can work, he's proven that, but when you go up against some height, you get out-rebounded, unless you make an unreasonable number of shots. Certainly the press works, but in the Dance, you're playing against some very good ball handlers, which leads to some easy buckets. Cannot imagine playing Elsa and Hobbs together, they'd get in each other's way, and Kitt seems to be the best assistant glass cleaner on the court. Would like to see Elsa become a 'junkyard dog', but don't believe she's built like that. And, if the opposing forward/center boxes her out, there is zero chance the Buckeyes get the rebound. Has anyone figured how you always get one 'hot' shooter per game?

Was that the 72-0 game? Where Cooper said at halftime that the Buckeyes wouldn't throw in the second half?

The grad symbolic logic classes were a significant contributing factor to my pulling the rip cord and coming back to ATL for law school. There was just no way to maintain the tOSU undergrad (both my roommates were) lifestyle to which I’d become accustomed as the classes got more advanced. :)

My guess is that these are easy answers:
You can't polish a turd. You just get shit on your hands.
The culture isn't going to change in the matter of a few months or even a few years. If he has any desire to change the culture, he won't have the time before getting fired.
Rich Rod was only trying to change the offense from having a tall statue at quarterback to having a running threat, and he improved by 2 wins every year he was there, and still got fired.
Hoke went back to the old way of trying to score, and he regressed by 2 wins every year he was there, and he got 1 more year than Rich Rod did.
Whittingham - I don't know anything about him - can go in there and "clean up" the program, but the boosters aren't going to be happy with 8 or 9 wins a year, and never making the playoff.

My prediction: Day #1 of practice he's going to be approached by some new Connor Stalions guy with a plan to get an illegal edge. Whittingham is going to say, "No way, we're clean." Then the other dude is going to say, "But we've already been doing it. And now for reasons we can't explain, your fingerprints are all over it." It'll be easier for Whittingham to hope no one finds out than for him to clean it up.

When a team loses 31 xfers, some fat/excess goes, certainly. But when one debones a chicken or beefsteak, some muscle gets cut away as well as fat. Heck, tOSU made ND's portal season all by ourselves...IMHO. Appears to me that tOSU's sophomore and junior cadre has been gutted by transfers, making the team more dependent upon the portal. And am not convinced that the coaching staff can make as great an impact on the 3-4-5 year players coming in, as they would on the 1-2-3 year recruits. While I'm not as critical of Pantoni as some of the above, kinda hard to look at someone's tape (which is made up of their GOOD plays, not their average plays) to get a feel for a kid. And is folly to read the news clippings of a guy, and make an educated decision as to make them an instant millionaire. With the huge money being thrown around for HCs, the pressure is being put upon them for instant success. And Cignetti is the poster boy certainly. Wouldn't be surprised if each and every new HC hire is being compared to him, with no earthly idea whether this new guy can 'redo' as well as Cignetti has done. And the leash on said HC will be shorter.

And, opinions are like a**holes, everyone's got one....amazing how we look back at the 'lean times', with some fondness. Wife and I looked back at our salad days, where she would make some chicken veronique, (that's chicken salad with sliced grapes, folks) go up the Santa Cruz mountains, suck down some free wine from a winery up there, have a picnic, and look out over Silicon Valley, as our main week end entertainment. Today, we spend a whole lot more, and cannot really say the times are better.

Those were good days, remember them well. I had an intro philosophy class thought by some really old but great guy. IIRC he was somewhere in Bertrand Russell’s lineage. Closer to Russell than further… he was old.

Also had an ethics class at tOSU. The guy was too old to be a grad student and had a bit of an accent. African maybe? Either way, one day we were discussing the ethics of dating and this guy used to call on people randomly to keep the class on its toes. I forgot the prompt a long time ago but once, when called upon in that discussion, I made reference to ‘coyote ugly.’ Probably related to ‘do you call her back’ type of question. The prof either was not familiar with the term or felt like putting me on the spot, so I had to explain to the class that sometimes you wake up next to someone and rather than waking them you’d rather gnaw your arm off… like a coyote in a trap. Ahh… good times.

A great idea if the desired result is to have all of the top HS athletes leave the state.

So, is Harden here just to finish out the season? Use his talents before the honeymoon period ends, hope he helps them to a championship, and then hope for some cap relief since Harden's contract is only partially guaranteed next season?

Let's hope Kobi knows what he is doing. And this gif is my fear for Harden.
