2026 Winter Olympics (Milan - Cortina, Feb 6-20)

Dropping $150k (almost double the US median household income) to pay for a party for a bunch of millionaires certainly is a choice.

Not that it’s a bad thing to do, but I’m going to hold my vote on “philanthropist of the year” for someone supporting a slightly more worthwhile cause.
Just sayin': I totally agree; however, it's his money and he can afford it. Besides it wouldn't surprise me if he tries to claim it as an advertising/promotion expense for his ESPN show(s) (i.e. a tax write off) too.....

Pat McAfee’s deal with ESPN is for five years and around $85 million, The Post has learned.

Said he came in at 373 and is now down to 348 and belly is gone. Said he's on a diet so he doesn't go out to eat. Said when he came in he could bench 225 22 times and now is close to 30 reps.

Also said Cincere looks waaay different now. Like a mini Arvell. Just shook his head and said wait until you see him. Made it sound like he's grown and also leaned up at the same time it's pretty wild. Perez said "my guy got big."

Associate HC/DL Coach Larry Johnson Sr. (National Champion)

“LARRY IS A GREAT COACH.” During an interview at the NFL Combine, former Ohio State defensive coordinator and current Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley praised longtime Buckeyes assistant Larry Johnson.

“My one year with Larry, he’s just a really good technical coach, really demanding of his players, builds great relationships, and he’s a great evaluator,” Hafley told cleveland.com’s Stefan Krajisnik. “He’s recruited some really, really good talent. Even when I was there, there were some great players — and there will continue to be. And Ryan (Day) does such a great job with the evaluation process and building those guys from the ground up. But Larry is a great coach.”

Johnson has coached Ohio State’s defensive linemen since 2014. The two-time national champion assistant has developed a ton of Buckeyes into NFL-caliber players, including Joey Bosa, Tyquan Lewis, Dre’Mont Jones, Nick Bosa, Chase Young, Tommy Togiai, Zach Harrison, Tyleik Williams, JT Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer.

And that’s, I don’t know, half the list?

Johnson is great, like Hafley said.

There’s no doubt about it.

Is the hard count 6?

If that is the case then I'd suggest a mix of 3 counting stats and 3 rate stats to make it balanced. @heisman and @Ahiacitian have said everything about the categories, stats and how they play out that anyone can say.

I'd maybe ask it this way before we get going and still have plenty of time: what are we trying to accomplish? Then the stats in each category are just how. I would also set the realistic expectation of; you can't get it perfect. There are unintended consequences and ways to manipulate the rules no matter what you do.

It sounds like there is frustration with streaming players (pitchers mostly) and the over importance of middle relievers. I agree that those two things are heavy in this league but I'll make the case they are the shock absorber/equalizer for those with less talent/skill/experience in drafting.

At the end of the day, this is supposed to have an entertainment aspect to it and I think this is the real balance that needs to be struck/decision made on what you are trying to do. I see a normal kind of distribution curve here 2-3 guys who are really up on fantasy baseball and draft well, a bunch of dudes in the middle who are into it and get it but just are not into it at that top level followed by 2-3 dudes who will just be present to field a team to make the league have enough teams.

That group in the middle is largely about entertainment value/having fun with this so if you clamp down too hard on the streaming and all that you are swinging the pendulum toward drafting skill. If that's what you want to do then fine, but I think 80+% of the league will fall behind and if they can't be as active in the day to day, just sit there and do nothing.

I'm with you either way and I love a good discussion about stats and doing stuff differently but I want to make sure I say my piece on the overall entertainment part. Too far toward draft and hold (in season) is going to be no bueno for a bunch of casual guys I think but who knows?

Woody Hayes Athletic Center (Official Thread)

“THERE’S GOOD BONES IN THERE.” Ross Bjork told The Columbus Dispatch this week that Ohio State is still planning to renovate the Woody Hayes Athletic Center — hopefully sooner rather than later.

Facilities used to be all the rage. College football’s top programs engaged in an arms race to boast the best dining room, film room, team room and weight room. Then came the NIL era, followed by the current revenue-sharing era, and facilities shifted to the back burner. But that doesn’t mean state-of-the-art buildings are no longer important for current and future coaches and players.

Bjork said as much to The Dispatch, emphasizing the importance of Ohio State raising public awareness and building momentum as the Buckeyes prepare to update their nearly 40-year-old football facility.

“We have advanced that project to the next round from a planning and fundraising standpoint. Sometime this spring, we hope to create more visibility around how much money has been raised, the timeline and the total cost of the building. Show some images, things like that,” Bjork said. “We want to create some public awareness, public momentum around the Woody Hayes complex. We would also couple that with the ice rink, making sure we get the ice rink in the same stage, if you will. Here's the funding outline, here's the timeline, here's where it could go, here's what it looks like. And then we have some other projects that we want to create visibility around that we want to get off the ground.”

For now, Bjork hasn’t shared how much Ohio State has raised for the renovation. However, he estimates it will cost the Buckeyes around $100 million to complete the project.

The goal, Bjork said, is to create a more efficient building within the current footprint.

“What we're looking at is basically you would renovate all the existing spaces inside the current footprint,” Bjork said. “From all the offices and film breakout rooms, to the locker room, to the training room. We would move the equipment room to the back of the building, so it would actually have a loading dock. Right now, it's in the center of the building, so when you have deliveries, you're going down hallways and you might have a meeting going on. Just creating more of an efficient building inside the footprint. And then there'd be new spaces built, new weight room, new offices for the coaches, and really kind of a new entrance, a new lobby. But the rest of the building would be basically gut-renovated.

“There's good bones in there, there's good space, we just need to organize it better, expand it, modernize it, and it'll be the best building in the country. Now buildings are going to be built on efficiency. How does a player get from this point to that point in a quick amount of time? How do they train? How do they recover? How are they taught the game? Film rooms. Right now, we can't fit the entire organization in the team meeting room. People are literally standing in the hallway. Things like that are just not functional in this modern era.”

Ohio State has invested heavily in keeping up with the changing economics of college athletics. Bjork knows the next step is to ensure the team’s facilities meet the same standard. In a sport where marginal gains matter, efficiency, functionality and modernization aren’t luxuries — they’re necessities. By maintaining a top-tier building, the Buckeyes stay at the forefront of the sport.

DC Matt Patricia (Official Thread)

Patricia’s sneakers are Nike Air Force 1s. Using an all-white base, O’Neill customized the shoes with black detailing and scarlet and gray accents. He also added an image of Matt Patricia above the Nike logo. The illustration shows Patricia wearing a backwards hat — a look he often sported during his NFL career — along with his trademark pencil tucked behind his ear.

"Can’t wait to bust them out in season two at the Shoe!" Patricia wrote.

Not necessarily opposed to runs created, I just haven’t played with this category before. So based on your definition of runs + RBI’s - HR’s, a 3-run HR would gain 3 in this category (1 run + 3 RBI - 1 HR)? And the HR still counts in the HR category? Would definitely be different, but could be a cool change.
That’s correct. 3 runs created on a 3 run HR.

so what then is the sweet spot for categories?

2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I don't want Diebler fired this year. Next year though has to be make or break.

I'd love for him to prove me wrong and succeed but I just don't see it.

Next year's team is liable to be worse with Bruce gone, unless you think Diebler is going to bring in a noticeably better portal haul than this year and last that is enough to make up for losing Bruce AND improving the team where it needs it most. Which seems highly unlikely. Yes I know NIL NIL NIL but they've been very poor at their evaluations and identifying the best realistic options of guys they can bring in.
