Ohio State at Penn State, Wed. 3/4, 7:30 ET on Peacock

You must have been watching. I was listening to Stokes/Keeles and it was much more numbing than "fun". Great and satisfying win by the Bucks, but it was presented to me by the lowest energy broadcast team I've ever listened to.

Keeles is always lowkey. Old school and not the fanatic that some on air people are nowadays. Plus, they're used to doing OSU basketball games in recent years.

Indiana at Ohio State, Sat. 3/7, 5:30 ET on Fox

I get the sense that this is a "win and in" type of game for OSU. Some are saying the odds of OSU making the tourney right now are over 80%, and with a win here, it should be a lock. IU will be coming to try and win, though, as they are firmly on the bubble and really needs to win as well.
20 wins, 12 in the B1G…they’re in.

Here's what the magic Google AI machine says....

The Big Ten Conference record for the best team field goal percentage in a single game is 73.3%.
This historic performance was achieved by Michigan in a game against Western Michigan on December 8, 1984. The Wolverines made 44 of their 60 shots to secure the record.
Other notable high-efficiency performances in Big Ten men's basketball history include:
  • 71.4%: Ohio State vs. Wisconsin, 1970 (30 of 42 field goals).
  • 71.1%: Indiana vs. Minnesota, 1982 (32 of 45 field goals).
  • 70.2%: Purdue vs. Illinois, 1990 (40 of 57 field goals).

But I gotta say, 34/51 is literally 67%....but I don't math a ton and stuff....
Those numbers are actual shooting %, and don’t have the number increased for 3-point makes.

The Buckeyes were 66.7% in regular shooting %, but 82.4 when the value of made 3-pointers is factored in.

A few days ago the Celtics set an NBA record with an effective shooting % of 80.8%.

I believe tOSU’s number tonight is 82.4%, by going 34 of 51 with 16 makes from 3-point land. Might be a B1G record, probably not an NCAA one.

Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

This team has to be cursed. Allen out mid-game with a knee injury. Mitchell out. Wade out. Harden with a broken finger. No matter who they have or who they get…can’t. Stay. Healthy.
Stop drinking the Cleveland water?

It sucks that we just keep on this shitty roller coaster but they playing well considering

Jake Diebler (Head Coach)

Doesn't fit the "Diebler can't coach" narrative that some like to push here at all.

Also, let's be real, this team HAS improved. They were neck-and-neck with a bad ND team in November, and they looked dead in the water after losing against a bad Pitt team in December. They have lacked a top-tier big man and it shows sometimes. After the Pitt loss in particular it looked like they weren't going to be tough enough in the frontcourt to make the tournament. Yet they have grown and shown more fight, particularly in going after rebounds.

Mobley started the season not playing particularly well & has blossomed into the type of offensive weapon that you'd hope for him to be. Chatman sat the bench because of his defense, one game he committed 3 fouls in just 1 minute, but he has grown into being a solid bench player. Bynum is a true freshman who went from bench player to starter and has helped the team immensely. Njegovan went from being a guy who barely played last season to a guy who's actually helping provide some solid minutes as backup big man. Tilly has grown into playing against stronger and tougher competition. Bruce has taken a step forward individually even as the team around him has stepped up. They haven't even had Noel for most of the Big Ten season, have battled injuries causing 3/4 of their top scorers to miss conference games, and yet they're in the thick of the hunt for the NCAA tournament. While many have not seen this team as a product of a good coaching job, I would disagree.
I've said several times this year that it seems Diebs is saying and coaching the right things. You can hear him on the sidelines and in time outs. It just looked at times like the boys aren't listening or understanding. Now that could be as simple as changing his leadership style to fit his players so that they are always on the same page and motivated. Easier said than done.

He had NOT lost his team though that's a fact.
