HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Cignetti is 5-0 and looks sharp but so far that's been a really weak SOS he's faced. Yes, he's kicked their asses, which is promising, but you might want to see how he does the next 5 games before putting him in a top 3 list to replace a coach who loses 2 games a year max.
I really didn't have a top three list. Saban and Vrable were not possibilities for reasons stated. I was just throwing Cignetti out there if there was going to be a coaching search if Day loses to Michigan for a third year in a row. If Day beats Michigan this year then all of this is moot because there won't be a coaching change.

Ehh...the 2013 was broken on defense thanks to Withers. Jameis would have thrown for about 700 yards in a potential matchup.

But 2015, yes, absolutely.
Probably would've lost against Florida State for sure but that team was stacked talent wise, Mich St not so much, although it was a very competent team coached by a good football coach. But you're 100 % right that defense was broken. So broken in fact that they managed to successfully exploit it in that CCG.

2012 we probably would have lost it in the National Championship game as well even if we weren't bowl banned.

2024 College Football Polls

Highest ranked undefeated: SEC
Highest ranked 1-loss: SEC
Only 2-loss: SEC

Yeah, no bias, and for those who say it doesn't matter, the committee can deny it all they want but they absolutely keep an eye on the polls.
The AP poll actually has tOSU at #4 ahead of UGA, so the B1G has the highest 1-loss team in that poll. And it foolishly has tCun as the second 2-loss team.

Remember when everyone crucified Day for running the ball against Georgia in the final moments, and setting up a long field goal that we missed? 45 yards is not close enough on the road in college.

Sure. I expected a couple of runs to center the ball, ideally picking up 1 first down along the way. The play with the OPI on Smith was the throwing version of what I expected on the ground. Candidly, I’m probably more OK with the call to throw there given Simmons was out.

Gotta get by Penn State first. USC blowing a huge lead makes that game very important.
Well they have a week off to tweak some stuff. If the boys are visiting home and playing golf, then I will be upset. Not stress the players out, but there is work to be done. Especially figuring out the issue with the D and working out a new left or right tackle.

I’m just throwing out names since people are so quick to want the flavor of the month.
The problem is these guys (whoever people name, at least it isn’t Bellichik and Cowher and Gruden anymore) are generally the more with less guys…the guys who can win at Iowa State and Purdue and Mississippi State and places like that…and most of those guys can’t translate that to A-level resources. They just can’t. For every one that does, at least 25 flame out. I know everyone thinks we’re going to get the Urban thing again, but he was at Florida, not BGSU or Utah, when we got him. He had already climbed the ladder. Taking a guy from a lower level place and plugging them in to Ohio State is just asking for Gerry Faust 2.0 ( yes, extreme example)

I agree with this. This year Day needs to make up some of the knock on him by at least beating Scum. I think at least that will cool things down.

Uh. Sure they did. Both for how he handled the QB thing in that game and coming off an awful 2004 where certain high profile alumni were trying to get him fired (and urban Meyer hired) in the wake of the Maurice Clarett debacle/scandal.

God I forget about that sometimes, one of Tress's darkest moments no doubt.

Yes but there is no denying that the Buckeyes have underachieved in the past decade given how much talent we've had just one Championship feels a little bare. Granted we're in an amazing position as a program thankfully, but the taste is bittersweet at times when you think about how many times we've lost the chance to win it all. Michigan State fucked us 2 times in three years out of a Championship, then you've got the Clemson and Georgia semi final games where we were blue balled, above all the inexplicable losses suffered at the hands of Iowa and Purdue.

Nick Saban really messed up a lot of CFB fan's heads.

Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Unsure why Watson gets all the heat...
at one point he was 10/10 in 2nd half
near the end
Browns are 4th and goal at the 3
Zinter false start .. 4th and 8
Wills false start .. 4th and 13
Because like OBJ before him, they’re paying Rolls Royce money for Honda Civic production. And the fact he is patently unlikable adds to the heat he takes (but wouldn’t matter to most people if we were getting Joe Montana instead of Dave Krieg).

Just don't see it with him. Has yet to have a 10 win season in his career, only one 9 win season at ISU. 2-4 I'm bowl games. Maybe this is his year, we'll see. I also don't know if he can recruit at a high level.

After Saturday, people are ready to light the torches and get out the pitchforks again.

Day better beat these fucking guys by a large margin this year in order to squash a lot of the chatter. I don't even believe that a 7 point victory will cool his seat off now. I guess we'll see in a about 6 weeks.
