Grading on a curve, he's handed it as well as possible. Impossible to have this situation without some controversy.
Comparing their body of work this year, Arch has looked better, but it was against much worse competition when Quinn was injured. They both looked like ass in the first Georgia game. Despite how frustrating he can be at times, Quinn probably gave us the best chance to win over the course of the entire season, but that's just a hunch. His maturity and calm (bordering on lackadaisical) nature has mostly been a valuable intangible asset this year.
But he's inconsistent. Hard to tell how much of that is Sark overcomplicating things. I guess we'll know next year. He's probably outside the top 25 FBS QBs in terms of deep balls. Other than Bama in 2023 and Q4/overtime of the Peach Bowl against ASU, he has not been clutch (though he hasn't had to be very often). He often comes out of halftime looking like he forgot how to play football, but see the Sark comment above. He's not very mobile and he takes a lot of sacks, though some of that has been lingering injuries. Throws a catchable ball that sometimes lacks zip. He follows up his spurts of brilliance (usually 1-2 quarters per game) with a lot of sloppiness and WTF moments.
Overall, I'm grateful for Quinn. He's been a good quarterback for UT. Will be interested to see how he does with a different coach, whether that's in the NFL or another CFB team next year.
I don't think Arch would've beaten Georgia either time. But he's the guy next year.
