2026 OH OL Sam Greer is a Buckeye!!!

The following is Rivals' "Scout's take" on Greer:
In a deep group of touted offensive tackles at Rivals Five-Star, it was Sam Greer who stood out among the rest. The Ohio State commit checked in at nearly 6-foot-7, 323 pounds with plus length. Greer was a standout during the extensive 1-on-1 period, getting the best of talented pass rushers on most of his reps. Greer flashed light feet and some of the best reactive quickness among the offensive linemen at Rivals Five-Star. He was also hyper physical. Greer was a bull on contact, giving little ground once engaged.
Greer is getting a chance to showcase his potential after missing most of his sophomore season with injury. This camp cycle was his first with a full season of varsity experience under his belt. A 6-foot-7, 323-pound, in-state offensive tackle who shut down elite edge rushers at an elite recruiting camp? Sounds good to me! Ohio State might not break its drought on composite five-star offensive tackles, but Greer is showing the potential of a future front-five anchor.

SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

What a shitty rule change. Does this crap apply to only SEC vs SEC games ?
Can a conference change a National rule? My guess as to why is that offsides gets called for the slightest twitch and possibly kills too many drives. Fans want scoring. Unless it’s the wrong team scoring.

Should semipro/college players be paid, or allowed to sell their stuff? (NIL and Revenue Sharing)

BIG-SPENDING BUCKS. A survey conducted by On3's Pete Nakos ranked Ohio State as spending the third-most money across college football this season.

There were several interesting notes from this story. Firstly, Nakos reported that sources indicate that the Buckeyes' roster costs more than $35 million. Those sources also said that Jeremiah Smith will be the highest-paid non-quarterback in the country this season, paid more than the $4.5 million he was reportedly offered to enter the transfer portal. Nakos also reported this:

“I’m not going to lie, we called about him,” a general manager said of Smith. “Reached out to his people. They were like, ‘It’s going to have to be $7 million.’ And I was like, ‘Have a great day.'”
Put whatever stock into that you wish. Some might be shocked to see Texas Tech at No. 2 on that list – Nakos reported that they will spend more than $28 million this year. They did have the No. 2 transfer portal class in the country, per 247Sports. The Red Raiders apparently outbid the Buckeyes for former USC running back Quentin Joyner, who Nakos reported Texas Tech won with a $700,000 offer.

Lastly, of interest after Ohio State missed out on four-star defensive end Luke Wafle:

Four-star EDGE Luke Wafle picked USC over Ohio State and Penn State and is expected to sign a three-year, $2.4 million deal.

I wonder how deep this goes? Chinese money in exchange for access to US scientific research? It wasn't much more than a decade ago that the gap between our endowments was only a couple of billion. Today it's 9 billion (17 versus 8). Where'd the money come from?

You misspelled WWI.
Don't you have to go to the1930s for them to have an all time series lead. We all know that the 2002-2019 was a wonderful aberration, but they act like the Cooper years were indicative of the entire rivalry. Even with the Cooper years we've always had a solid series lead since 1950.

Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

To me the biggest concern for OSU in this game is whether our defensive front seven can hold up physically in the interior and get the calls and run fits right to limit yardage and big plays from gash running plays, especially designed and improvised QB runs. Even if pressure on Manning isn't great, I'm much more concerned about that than about him ripping the defense up from the pocket. I think the Buckeyes' offense will put up at least 24 and agree with Jax that this feels like a big Max Klare game.
