The Denver Broncos announced on Tuesday that they plan to build a new retractable roof stadium with Burnham Yard, a historic district of Denver, as the preferred site. The project, which will be privately funded by the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group, has a targeted completion date that would allow it to open in time for the 2031 season.

Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Illinois receives historic $100 million donation from alumnus Larry Gies, renames football stadium

The gift is the largest in Illinois athletics history

University of Illinois alumnus and businessman Larry Gies made a $100 million donation to the Illinois athletic department and will have the Fighting Illini's football stadium renamed in his family's honor, the school announced. Gies' $100 million gift is the largest in Illinois athletics history and is believed to be among the biggest ever given to a college athletic department.

Gies made the donation in memory of his late father, Larry Gies Sr., who served in the United States Army. Illinois' football stadium, Memorial Stadium, will be known moving forward as Gies Memorial Stadium and will continue to honor soldiers like Gies' father.

Gies, who made his fortune as the founder and CEO of Madison Industries, one of the world's largest and most successful privately held companies, in 2017 donated $150 million to the school, which renamed its business school to the Gies College of Business.

"This gift is the result of years of thought-provoking conversations and is the continuation of a long-term partnership with Larry that will benefit generations of student-athletes and advance this program to even greater heights," Whitman said. "I am grateful to Larry for his trust and confidence, and we are excited to honor him, and his veteran father, by placing their family name alongside that of our beloved Memorial Stadium."

Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

Imagine that. NFL owners paying for a new stadium themselves.

I thought this was impossible and if these poor owners had to fund these projects themselves their only option would be to move the team. (Note sarcasm font)
All I've heard around here is much positivity about the idea. So it's bound to fall through.

tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I decided to move from Bill Kurelic the coach to Bill Kurelic the recruiting guy. But my idea was a little different. In those days, the only guys really covering football recruiting were doing it nationally. My thinking was to start a business for people like myself, people that really didn't care about some recruit in Oregon or Rhode Island that had no interest in Ohio State and vice-versa, but instead start a print publication call the "Ohio Football Recruiting News" that covered anyone and everyone across the country Ohio State was recruiting as well as top football prospects in the state of Ohio.

In my first year of publication (1986-87), I did not make any money. My second year I broke even. At that point, I told my wife I would give it one more year, and if I wasn't making any money, that would be it. My third year did indeed make money, so I continued on, and here we are, almost 40 years later.

‌Over the past couple of years, I have thought off and on about retirement. Over the past six months or so, I've thought more intently about either retiring or at least scaling back. After praying about things and many discussions with my wife, in the first part of June, I decided that I would be retiring. But I wanted to think about things for a bit longer to make sure I still felt that way. As things moved forward, I felt more and more sure of my decision.

As the line in The Lion King movie goes, "It is time." It is now time to announce that I will be retiring in October.
