When you consider the disadvantage that Ohio State Women's Ice Hockey starts with you have to recognize what a great job Nadine Muzerall is doing. The fact that is that nobody would ever consider Ohio as being a "hockey state". Look at her roster, she has zero players from Ohio. She might just have the toughest job in recruiting players than any other Ohio State head coach. The team this year has players from Canada, Sweden, Finland, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa.
It makes you wonder how much NIL money the the "NIL Club for Ohio State Women's Ice Hockey" generates.

Anyway the Ohio State Women's Ice Hockey team had a GREAT year; WCHA Championship, #1 seed in the Frozen Four, and runner up for the Natty. There is no shame in losing to this Cheese team in the Championship Game. It says a lot for this team how after being down 0-2 they battled back with 2 goals in the 3rd period to tie the game.
On her allowable roster of 18 players only 2 are Seniors (Sara Swiderski, D and Emma Peschel, D) so if everyone else comes back (and gets a couple good "defensive" replacements for the 2 departing players) the team should be very good again next year too.
Following the House v. NCAA settlement, Ohio State is allocating $18 million in institutional NIL funds for the 2025-26 season, but this is concentrated on football, men's/women's basketball, and women's volleyball. While ice hockey players can still receive NIL deals, they are not part of this primary institutional revenue-sharing, as the school focuses funds on top revenue-generating sports.
Ice hockey student-athletes can still secure individual NIL deals, such as those facilitated through NIL collectives like the 1870 Society and The Foundation (now under Buckeye Sports Group).
Women's ice hockey players specifically have opportunities to participate in "NIL Clubs" or similar team-specific initiatives.
