Baseball Hall of Fame (Cooperstown)

That fucker would have to shower with bleach because he is a complete asshole!

The only MLB’er I met that was nicer than Sammy Sosa was Tony Gwynn, and I’ve met them all. Just putting it out there. He signed everything I asked him to sign and always remembered me by name. Rarer than rare.

I'm not sure why people can't just see these young men as young men. They make more money than the average young man their age, but they still make decisions like young men, and have to learn that their decisions have consequences. If a kid is working sales for say, Pepsi, he may have a non-compete contract that he can't work for a competitor for X amount of years. Its up to him to know the terms of the contract, but no one will care about that kid because he doesn't throw a football
Not to get into a legal debate here, but haven’t non-competes been ruled to be unenforceable in many cases? Hasn’t it been ruled in these cases that you can’t prohibit someone from being employed in their field?

Should semipro/college players be paid, or allowed to sell their stuff? (NIL and Revenue Sharing)

The payments of prior times don’t even Come close to the machinations of NI! Servitude. The bidding, paying, processes of the NIL program are what caused all I said. It’s like a cattle market.
Its always been a cattle market! Regardless of the money being more or not. People in the 80s, 90s, 2000s, etc have said that CFB was dead or they'd stop watching because of some reason, and it usually came back to unfair advantages in the sport. Which in the past was whispered, but it was still about the money. You don't think there was "payment servitude" in the past with SMU, Oklahoma, Nebraska, in the 70s and 80s? Come on now. Its just gasping and clutching pearls in a new form. Nothing is new under the sun

Agreed. I’m not siding with the players on this or siding with anyone really. Just pointing out this is normative behavior in the business world. You just dont see headlines for it every day.

But did he break the contract? Has anybody seen a copy of it?
It was posted in a tweet. There are some arguments that it was badly formed in that there is no out clause and damages section like the Big Ten and SEC have been working on so it might not be enforceable but we'll see.

Not the tweet I saw but this seems to have most of it.

P Brady Young (Official Thread)

Young, a native of Perrysburg, Ohio, began his career at Cincinnati after graduating high school in 2021. He redshirted that year and spent four total seasons with the Bearcats, but never appeared in a game. He transferred to Houston Christian ahead of his fifth season, seeking an opportunity to start at the FCS level.

In his first year as a starter with the Huskies in 2025, Young averaged 41.8 yards per punt across 69 boots, with 17 punts downed inside the opposing 20-yard line and 12 that traveled 50 yards or more. He had one punt clear 60 yards, a career-long 66-yard boot against Northern Colorado on Sept. 20.

Just sayin':
1. Anybody know how he qualifies for a 6th year? Doesn't the year at Houston Christian count?
2. Yeah, he'll get to compete for P1; however, I'll say the coaches just picked him up expecting him to be the back up punter.
Likely he found a medical issue for 1 of his 3 years at Cincinnati after the R/S.

Cleveland Browns (Factory of Sadness)

I can't imagine them getting anyone besides someone trying another time around to be a head coach in the NFL.

They have a meddlesome owner that has made the wrong decision every time. A GM who has a weak draft record. No QB of the future. Not much hope with the O-line.

The organization may find lightning in a bottle with their hire, but the history with the Haslams says it will be another abject failure.

Hey, but at least they are getting their new stadium funded with public dollars. (sarcasm font).
They’re just going to recycle Schwartz. I’d be surprised if it was anyone else. They’ll try to grab a lower level guy looking for a shot as an OC. And we’ll be back having the conversation in 1-3 years.
