Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

It's a rare combination of being independent for so long while having success with a single coach. You shield yourself off from the rest of the world, follow one man, pick and choose the chumps you can play............if it walks like a cult and quacks like a cult.
I absolutely believe they're a cult. But I didn't know why them and no one else. You have good points, but they could also be said about Notre Dame. Maybe they don't have one coach for a million years, and not quite as shielded. Maybe they're also a cult.
So how many years will it take the Big Ten to un-cult them? Will that ever happen?

Joel Klatt is taking another Big Ten team over the Ohio State Buckeyes in his latest college football rankings for 2025 season

Following the spring football period, Fox analyst Joel Klatt has another Big Ten team ranked ahead of the Buckeyes. Klatt lists Penn State at No. 1, followed by Texas at No. 2, with Ohio State coming in at No. 3. Oregon and Clemson round out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Other Big Ten teams in Klatt’s rankings include Illinois (No. 10), Michigan (No. 12), Indiana (No. 21), and Iowa (No. 23).

Penn State returns quarterback Drew Allar along with many starters from a team that made the College Football Playoff last season. The Nittany Lions also added wide receivers through the transfer portal, including Trebor Pena from Syracuse. Additionally, Jim Knowles made a lateral move to become Penn State’s new defensive coordinator.

Julian Sayin’s performance—assuming he earns the QB1 spot—will be a major factor in determining just how good Ohio State can be in 2025. The defense may take a step back, so the offense will need to carry more of the load. While Ohio State has recently had the upper hand against Penn State, a matchup between these two teams in their current projected rankings would be highly anticipated.

Regardless, the Big Ten is once again shaping up to be a powerhouse in 2025. Even a program like USC appears to be trending upward.

WR Julian Fleming (transfer to Penn St.)

Former Ohio State transfer bust gets devastating news that puts his NFL career in jeopardy

The Green Bay Packers signed Fleming after the draft to a UDFA deal, but news broke that Fleming failed his physical and was subsequently released.... According to the report, Baltimore, San Francisco, and Washington are still interested in giving Fleming the chance to compete at their respective minicamps.

"Fleming arrived in Green Bay on Thursday, but after the Packers informed him they’d no longer be signing him, he quickly returned home to Elysburg, golfing with some friends at Knoebels’ Three Ponds Golf Course by midday Friday."

He had re-torn his hip, plus was dealing with the aftermath of bulging disks in his back.

We'll see if Fleming can prove to be healthy enough to compete or if injuries will strike the young man's career before it even begins.

Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

I think you're right. But I wonder why. Are there other fans who think that the college football world revolves around them? Do Alabama fans act like this? Syracuse fans? Nebraska or Texas fans? Not that I've seen, but I've only been drawn to Penn State message boards BECAUSE they act like this.
Did Paterno start this mentality? Or is he deified BECAUSE of this mentality?

Florida Gators (official thread)

Billy Napier's decision to buck college football's biggest trend pays major dividends and could convince others to follow suit

With many teams looking to eliminate spring games, Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier decided against that and it paid major dividends. The Gators had a fantastic turnout at their spring game of 56,563. It ended up being the most in all of college football, according to 247 Sports.

Florida Gators have highest spring game attendance

What's even more impressive about the Gators' spring game attendance was being over 15,000 higher than every other college, including Ohio State, who had their lowest attendance in years.....:pissed: It wasn't just the highest in the nation for the Gators, they also had their highest attendance since Tim Tebow's senior season.

Having a spring game has been a point of contention for many in the world of college football. Some schools have opted to not have the game because it can be a recruiting tool for other teams with the transfer portal.

The Gators have taken a different philosophy. They used it to continue developing their young roster. With DJ Lagway not throwing during the spring, the Gators got important reps for backup quarterbacks Aidan Warner and Harrison Bailey, and the performance of the former earned him a scholarship.

Another important element for the Gators was they had 98% of their roster "locked up" for the 2025 season. You can feel a lot more comfortable about having a full fledged spring game when you feel that confident about your roster.

The success Florida had this year could be the catalyst for other teams to potentially bring them back, especially with revenue sharing adding another element to NIL and the transfer portal.

QB Kirk ‘Nightmare On’ Herbstreit (Frosted Quips, False Narratives Clown, Afraid of THE Lunatic Fringe)

link
Now he's claiming mental health issues.
My God, that whole website seems terrible. As for him, just whatever at this point: He can't hurt the program and even fans of other teams who actively dislike Ohio State are mostly seeing through him. I don't feel like wasting any thought on him at all anymore.

Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Their cult status derives not just from their worship of JoePerv, but from their delusional view that they are the epitome of college sports and the envy of every other college program.

The Ohio State Baseball (Official Thread)

Ohio State baseball is setting the wrong records in a nightmare season

The Buckeyes' three losses over the weekend write new record lows in Ohio State history
.

.

The nightmare season continues to get worse for the Ohio State baseball team

The Buckeyes are 11-33 overall and 3-21 in the Big Ten. Ohio State has three times as many overall losses as they do wins, and seven times more conference losses than it has wins. Ohio State’s 21 Big Ten losses are a program record. The 33 total losses are the second-worst all-time (the program record is 34). There’s no silver lining here.

This team has done nothing this year to make one optimistic about the future of the baseball program. They’ll be back at it this week, concluding this home stand (that they are 2-6 in) against another struggling Buckeye State team in the Ohio Bobcats. They’ll then travel to the Windy City for a weekend series with Northwestern.

Clemson Tigers (official thread)

Clemson and Notre Dame are set to announce a 12-year scheduling agreement that will pit the two college football powers against each other annually through 2038.

Clemson and Notre Dame are set to announce a 12-year scheduling agreement that will pit the two college football powers against each other annually through 2038.

For both schools, however, the agreement has practical implications. Notre Dame ensures a marquee matchup on its schedule as it hopes to build a playoff résumé as an independent. For Clemson, an annual game against one of the biggest brands in college football figures to juice ratings for the Tigers as the ACC begins a new era in which revenue is distributed, in part, based on TV ratings....

The agreement also offers some scheduling flexibility and insurance for both schools as the SEC continues to discuss moving to a nine-game conference slate. The Tigers play South Carolina annually in a rivalry game, but they also have future home-and-home series scheduled against LSU (2025 and 2026), Georgia (2029, 2030, 2032 and 2033), and Oklahoma (2035 and 2036). A nine-game SEC slate could put some of those future matchups in jeopardy -- though multiple sources told ESPN they do not see annual SEC-ACC rivalry games such as Clemson-South Carolina being canceled -- but even if all currently scheduled games remain on the docket, these matchups figure to help with playoff résumés.

"This locks in a huge rivalry for us with a nonconference opponent that's going to be strong year in and year out," Clemson athletics director Graham Neff said. "The association of national brands like Clemson and Notre Dame create a great fan experience, strong viewership and value on that is obviously a fundamental component."

Clemson and Notre Dame are already scheduled to play in 2027, 2028, 2031, 2034 and 2037, and the new agreement will overlap with those dates. A source confirmed the annual games will also count toward Notre Dame's required five games vs. ACC opponents. All games in the series would remain on the schedule regardless of Clemson's future conference affiliation, however.
