I think the 1st half gameplan on offense was actually pretty good for the most part. It was set back though by 2 awful play calls though. The pitch play inside the 5 after the 1st play turnover, which ended up causing us to have to kick a FG and the 4th down play call, going for it on 4th down there is fine, but that play call was bad. They were VERY aggressive at the end of the half going for that TD instead of playing safe for a FG there.

Me, being selfish, hopes this is true. I don't want to wish away the best WR in program history, but Sayin seems to be forcing the ball to JS rather than hitting the open guy. Rose colored glasses me blames some of the misses on keying in on #4, and if he doesn't have the pressure to let JS eat, he might do a better job finding the open guy. That could completely backfire when opponents don't have to key in on one guy, and nobody is as open.

I'd guess a large number of these 100 (or so) non Super League schools have a law school that produced thousands of alumni that would be more than willing to work "pro bono" to support their old alma mater. They would sue for the same thing the "Group of Five " conferences sued to get entry into the College Football Playoffs. The threat of antitrust litigation is the primary reason smaller conferences are legally guaranteed access. Because all FBS teams technically play on the same competitive tier, a total lockout would be deemed a restriction of trade and an illegal monopoly.

Totally agreed.

Maybe the safer bet is 26 and 14 but if you’re looking for a higher ceiling then 5 and 17 are who you go with.

I still like Alliegro because of his size. I think he’d be good even at the edge stuff but I don’t care what has to happen Pettijohn needs to be on the field. He’s too explosive.

Looking at Arthur Smiths placement among OC's in the NFL doesn't speak highly of him. His biggest success was with the Titans and having Derrick Henry helped out tremendously. His offenses ranked in the mid 20's a lot.

The first two plays of the third quarter were runs for 19 total yards. then they threw the ball 10 times in the next 13 plays. 7 went incomplete.

There’s just so many games that go this way. 2019 Clemson, 2022 UGA, 2025 ND, and now 2026 Texas. We are fortunate we pulled out the Notre Dame game.

But the three games I mentioned it looks like the most dominant performance I’ve ever seen and then it just stops.

They lose to IU again and it 0-4 in the last 4 games angainst teams in our own weight class.

TJ and Riley (especially Riley) look noticeably better than Pierce and alliegro, hope that's less of a rotation going forward.

I think our starting linebacker play is really average and will need to improve. Two games in, I can't see what phase of the game they are elite (thumping against the run, keeping contain on mobile QBs, defending the middle of the field in the pass game, pass rush?). I think they are pretty average at all of it which comes apart against teams that are elite at something on offense.

I would prefer a chance to be elite at some phases of linebacker play, even though it means tradeoffs in other phases. I think that means personnel. Then you can at least play chess.
