2026 MO OL Jackson Cantwell (Miami Verbal)

No offense, but shot put is a pretty obscure sport. And he wouldnt earn close to what he would even if he just had the Miami NIL deal and didn’t even make the NFL. I’ve never even heard of Ryan Crouser, tbh, but i can honestly assume that there are backup OL for Miami that are more well known than him. Unfortunately Olympic sports don’t earn much when compared to sports like Basketball and football, especially when choosing Miami, a school well known for giving over the top deals to land specific high ranked players.
Yeah, I completely understand your point of view and agree I with you. He thinks/knows football is what he wants and knows future earnings project way more than Olympic sports. My point is that the kid would have no problem earning a living because he is already a world class shot putter and will only get better if he were to pursue it. He would have a multi-decade career without the wear and tear on the body and still be a millionaire because of sponsorships. I don’t want to get too far off topic here either. Ryan Crouser has won the Olympic gold in three straight Olympics and is the current world record holder. Internationally speaking, he’s about as famous as it gets in the sport. He alone won’t pack a stadium here nor internationally, but he’ll get an entire stadium to stand up and start clapping because they all want to see him throw a 16 lb ball of steel 75’ on the fly. In any event, football is easily the best path for him to become wealthy and to have generational wealth on top of that.

Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

I don't think they even know because, since establishing Big Noon, they've never tried. In their mind "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" , I suppose.

Things have changed since then, though. Most notably, the SEC on CBS at 3:30 no longer exists. Hell, there could even be a growth opportunity. You don't know until you try.

Imagine Week 1 you have the reloaded Pedsters on at noon followed by OSU/Texas at 3:30. How many fans are going to turn on Fox from the moment they wake up and just leave it on until ~7pm? A lot, I would think. Now do the inverse. How many fans would flip the channel after the OSU/Texas Big Noon game ends? I would say, the vast majority would.
You do understand that CBS also has a TV contract with the Big Ten, right? And CBS and Fox are competitors, right?

It's obviously not as good for Fox as 12 or they would use it. Do you think they don't know their numbers?

He will be fine either way. His dad, Christian, was an Olympic shot putter. He is currently blowing his dad out of the water in terms of distance. He was the number one thrower in the nation a sophomore last year. He threw well over 74’ feet with a 12 lb shot. He’ll only go up from there. He could, if he wanted to, become the next gold standard in shotput. He is bigger than Ryan Crouser at his age, and is throwing just as far if not further. Nike would sponsor him for the next 20 years.

Just going by your response here, it's pretty clear you don't care to understand what TV contracts are or how they are typically enacted. Can't help ya bro.

If you're that pissed off, don't watch. Pretty simple. Because it's not going to change.
I understand them perfectly fine, thank you.

I'm not pissed off at all. Annoyed, certainly.

Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

I've got a funny wood cutting story. When I was 12-13 my father got this idea to make money on the weekend. This was Oregon in the early 80's and it was east to get a permit to go into designated areas to cut down trees for firewood. Most of these place were in the mountains. My dad would go up hill, cut down these huge oak and Madrone trees (madrone makes excellent firewood, it's a rare hardwood evergreen), roll them down the hill and I'd cut them into smaller pieces, take them home, cut it down, split it and sell it by the cord. I believe a cord went for about 50 bucks back then. We'd do 3-4 cords a day. One day my father cut off the nub of a limb and it was like a bowling ball. It started rolling down, hit a rock, changed course right for our truck and hit it broadside. It was a horror to watch. Completely destroy the passenger side door.
