Vacation: Beach or mountains?

Since I don't ski:
Mountains in summer.
Beaches in late fall through early spring.

Hate beaches in the US mainland. Best experience I have had was visiting beaches in Vieques, island in Puerto Rico. It was April so not very crowded and there are several beaches on a rough dirt road (but easy to get to with SUV) that were pretty empty.

There were literally 5 people on the beach other than my family.

Aren’t some of y’all the same folks who bitched about it when The Game wasn’t at Noon a while back? As my grandpa used to say, “Some folks complain if you hang ‘em with a new rope!”

I’m just grateful we no longer live in the era when the NCAA limited teams to only being on tv for one regular season game per season. And that college football doesn’t have MLB’s ridiculous blackout rules!

Joe Don Baker (1936-2025)

Joe-Don-Baker-obituary.jpg

Tall, broad shouldered character actor with Texan drawl first appeared in support in several Western vehicles both on TV and the cinema in the mid 1960s. Got himself noticed playing Steve McQueen's younger brother in Junior Bonner (1972), and then scored the lead role of Buford Pusser (!) in the unexpected hit Walking Tall (1973), an allegedly true tale about a Southern sheriff confronting corruption & gangsters with a large wooden club and a mean attitude. Followed it up by playing a sadistic hit man called Molly, in Don Siegel's bank heist drama Charley Varrick (1973). Joe Don Baker's next few films were rather forgettable until he landed the role of police detective Earl Eischied in To Kill a Cop (1978)....which led him into reprising the same character in the short lived TV series Eischied (1979). Since then he has proved he is also quite adept at taking on comedy roles, as well as picking up plenty of work playing lawmen, military men, politicians etc. Keep your eye open for him as a nosy police chief in Fletch (1985), a meglomanical general in The Living Daylights (1987), as a redneck father in Mars Attacks! (1996), and as intelligence operative Jack Wade in the 007 films Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and GoldenEye (1995).

Just sayin': I remember him from Walking Tall and the James Bond films.

DL Kenny Peterson (All B1G, National Champion)

Not a smart move, especially considering that Peterson's former teammate, Will Smith, was shot to death in a road rage incident. Small guns can easily take down large men ... and you never know who's carrying.
This. CCW's are everywhere. Hell Kenny could have been packing. The balls to spit at a large black male.

TLDR; we suck as a species.

“Peterson doesn't seem like the kind of person who goes looking for a fight”

Then what the fuck is he doing getting out of his car in the road and going to confront another driver? Sure seems like somebody looking for a fight.

Fuck that guy if he spit on him, but Peterson doesn’t get a pass when it sure looks like he escalated the situation by getting out of his car.

Fucking road ragers are a disease.

People are yelling past each other here. Money talks when it comes to networks and athletic departments. Fans experience and recruits take a back seat unfortunately. Yes I would love to see OSU play night games where the atmosphere is electric. But not gonna happen when Fox is footing the bill and has first dibs. Unless any other B1G program wants to step up, we are the bell cow.

Yep!!

You do understand that Fox televises more than 1 game per Saturday, right?
And you also understand that Fox puts it's premier game at the noon slot, right? It's literally the entire concept for them. Fan delusions thinking they can change things around on a whim are entertaining but unrealistic.

Fox won't move this game to any night time start. It has another contract with the MLB. MLB isn't going anywhere.

Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2025 B1G Champs)

"The stakes just got even bigger": Lacrosse stars share their excitement for LA28

Lacrosse is back on the Olympic stage at LA28, and the world’s best are buzzing with excitement. Discover why this dynamic sport promises unforgettable moments in Los Angeles.

For centuries, lacrosse has been more than just a game. Born from the sacred traditions of Indigenous peoples of North America, it has been a symbol of unity, competition, and cultural pride.

Now, at the Olympic Games LA 2028, lacrosse is poised to take on one more identity: an Olympic sport.

Lacrosse made its Olympic debut as a medal sport in St. Louis in 1904, and London 1908, later appearing as a demonstration sport in Amsterdam in 1928, Los Angeles in 1932, and London in 1948. But despite its impressive combination of speed, strategy, and physicality, it has since spent decades on the fringes of the Olympic Games, though adored widely by practitioners worldwide.

With its inclusion for LA28, players and fans alike are brimming with excitement. The sport returns in a fittingly electrifying, fast-paced sixes format, offering a fresh twist that promises to attract new audiences.

For many, it’s an opportunity to witness the sport at its best, while stars from around the world play for the podium, and, hopefully, inspire future generations along the way.

Just sayin':

1. I just noticed that lacrosse will be an Olympic sport in 2028. I'm guessing that will ultimately contribute to making college lacrosse even more popular.
2, OK how much different is the "sixes format" than the 10 player team Ohio State uses?

1. Hope to grow the game through this… always. Anything we can do to put our game in front of eyes is a good thing.
2. Same difference between Rugby and Sevens. It will be much smaller field, and much faster. It will resemble something that looks like lacrosse but will have elements of the box game as well.

As a purist, I’m not a fan. I wish they would just let our game be played as we play it… as one who wants to share the game, I’m willing to see how it goes. If we make our game more accessible and it draws people to the game, all good by me.

I have particular interest in this Olympics. I’ll leave it at that for now, but I’m glad to have our sport, and I pray it’s history, represented on the world’s stage.

The spitter fucked around and found out about spitting on another grown man. The pain of a good ass whipping is no small punishment.

The road rager is going to find about fucking around with the law (most likely). Chances are he is going to part with a fair amount of money.

Certainly not a cut and dried thing but it seems to square up in the end as long as he didn’t beat him to death.
