Ohio State @ Iowa, Wednesday Feb. 25, 9pm EST, BTN

I’m close to this…but willing to give the upgraded talent a chance next year.

But it won’t matter if this is the culture they walk into. These guys all ACT like they know basketball is the little brother at Ohio State. I just sense it even with the players this is just a hobby. No winning attitude at all.

Bruce tries. Everyone else seems like they’re just happy to wear the jersey and get some cool gear.

I just don't think Diebler is very good at actually being a head coach.

And talent might not even upgrade overall next year. Thompson is nice but he alone doesn't even come close to fixing the issues. With Bruce gone if the portal results aren't an upgrade from this year and last next year's team might actually be worse overall.

BP Fantasy Baseball est. 2008 (Current Champion = Ahiacitian)

I don’t like changing the K/9 category to just strike outs because then that stat becomes an accumulator stat which encourages constant adding and dropping of pitchers. Whereas the K/9 stat reflects the quality of pitching each team has in a given week. In the current format, there are different strategies that managers currently employ. Some guys go reliever heavy in chasing saves, holds, and K/9, while others go more balanced or starting pitcher heavy in chasing wins, ERA, and WHIP.
Maybe I’m not understanding, but pitchers are streamed ad nauseam in this league.

Diebler is getting completely out coached here just fell apart after the timeout when it was 14-2.
Either he only says the right thing when the camera is on him or these guys aren't listening. During hat timeout he was exactly right with what he was saying so I don't know why they aren't comprehending. :grr:

This team only looks for offense. I don’t see anyone worthy of a defensive award. Nobody! What Juni gives on offense is negated by piss poor defense. Same with Chatham. Guys blow by them all the time
You're not too far off the truth. I think this staff recruits with offensive skillset in the forefront of their mind. Defense is an afterthought, and it shows in the results. It shows up against a team like Iowa, who you have to beat with strength and physicality (a la Purdue).

Not watching, but I'm guessing Iowa was in zone D when the Bucks went up 14-2, then switched to man-to-man and are now crushing on D. It looked like Sparty was in man-to-man for much of that game and Bucks never solved it, except for Bruce occasionally.

Edit: ...or Dieb subbed in guys who can't score so that the scorers can be fresh later on. And paid dearly.

That’s because Diebler decided to substitute his hot shooting players for a bench that scores like 4 points a game. I knew as soon as he subbed, Iowa would come back and come back fast. Too much subbing

Yep. A coach who's in over his head. This game is really showing it. Let's not act like Iowa is some high end talent team.

Cincinnati Bearcats (Juggalos official thread of Faygo)

Cincinnati sues Sorsby over $1M exit fee after Texas Tech transfer

Cincinnati sued former quarterback Brendan Sorsby in federal court Wednesday, alleging he breached his NIL contract with the Bearcats when he refused to pay a $1 million exit fee after he transferred to Texas Tech.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, seeks $1 million in liquidated damages, which the school said Sorsby was contractually obligated to pay within 30 days of transferring.

In the complaint, Cincinnati's attorneys said the quarterback's representative "advised that Sorsby refuses to pay the University anything."

Sorsby reportedly signed an NIL agreement with the Red Raiders that will pay him between $4 million and $6 million this season.

"In his lucrative NIL agreement with Cincinnati Athletics, Brendan Sorsby committed to stay and play for two seasons as a proud Bearcat representative," the university said in a statement Wednesday. "He also agreed that if he left the university before that time, he would pay the university a specific amount for the substantial harm that his breach would cause.

"Cincinnati Athletics intends to enforce that contractual commitment. As stewards of the university's resources, the Athletics Department has a duty to do so. We thank Brendan for his time at Cincinnati and wish him success in the future."

The lawsuit said that Sorsby signed an 18-month NIL contract with the Bearcats that covered the 2025 and 2026 seasons. It was set to expire on Dec. 15, 2026.

Just sayin': Colleges suing athletes for braking NIL contracts is just going to get more and more common.

This team is just bad all around. I don’t understand how a university as big as ours can never get a big guy worth a damn like the Purdues of the world. Who have we had since Sully worth a damn underneath?
Kaleb Wesson was strong. Not sure if you count EJ Liddell as a big, but he at least provided good rim protection & rebounding. Haven't really had an interior presence since EJ.
