Thread of What You've Eaten, Cooked and/or Drunk Lately

I got stupid on Saturday and bought 3 flash food produce boxes for $3 each, yielding 42 bell peppers, 10 tomatoes, a container of grape tomatoes, a dozen jalapeños, two ears of corn, 6 cucumbers, and 5 avocados.

Then spent all day yesterday roasting peppers and cherry tomatoes from the garden in the oven, blanching, peeling and seeding the store tomatoes, chopping other herbs and vegetables, and then making and freezing a bunch of sauces. 3 quarts of romesco, 3 quarts of pasta, two quarts of salsa, and 2 quarts of a curry. We still have romesco sauce in the freezer from the last time I did this, but I’m such a sucker for cheap produce and hate throwing away food.
What is a flash food produce box?

Dylan Raiola (QB Nebraska)

Who the fuck is comparing this bum to Mahomes? 13 passing TDs in 13 games in college, including 4 total in his last 8 games last year. And -65 rushing yards for the season. Other than skin color, a retarded haircut, and being an attention-whore QB, this guy has nothing in common with Mahomes.
He is. He is comparing himself to Mahomes. There's at least 4 levels of douche going on with this kid. Probably more.

Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

Bottom line is both teams lost a lot. I believe I heard both teams have over 80% of their production to replace and both send over 12 players to the draft.

So it’s confusing why we hear that Texas is loaded on defense. How so? They lost half their damn defense. Texas offensive line returns a lot of players with reps. Cool I guess but they return 1 starters, lost their RT in camp, and their starting LT has a hand in a club now.

Just dumb the narrative around Texas.
I am glad. Let them doubt us. Just more fuel for the fire.

Ryan Day is keeping the status quo on special teams.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Day said Jayden Fielding will remain Ohio State's starting kicker, while Joe McGuire will hold serve at punter for the Buckeyes' season opener against Texas.
Ohio State brought in former Ball State kicker Jackson Courville, a Dayton native, in the offseason to challenge Fielding for the starting gig. Courville made 26-of-34 field goals in a two-year stretch and was 11-of-13 on field goals last season, including 2-of-2 from 50-plus yards. Courville was also 54-of-56 on extra points in his Ball State career, missing one in each of his first two seasons.
Nonetheless, Fielding earned Day's vote of confidence Tuesday following an up-and-down 2024 season. Fielding finished 13-of-17 on field goals last season and is entering his third year in Columbus.
His highlights included sealing the national championship against Notre Dame with a 33-yard field goal in the game's final minute, though he also struggled in the Michigan loss with two missed kicks. He did not make a field goal 50 yards or longer in 2024 and has yet to make one in his career.
Meanwhile, McGuire enters his third season at Ohio State and beat out second-year player Nick McLarty for the starting gig. McGuire will be the Buckeyes' starter for the second straight year. He recorded 47 punts last season, averaging 42.1 yards per punt. His longest was a 61-yard punt, and he placed 14 punts inside the 20-yard line.

2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

If he is in the Shoe I certainly hope that the current trend of throwing big green dildos continues.

Now you actually have a target to hit ....

2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

According to Wiltfong and some of the guys over on LR, OSU may now realize that they can offer competitive deals(I'll believe it when it happens). But just passing along the info:

Per Wiltfong:
I think OSU is going to be aggressive this fall with rising seniors and flip targets.

Per Spencer Holbrook:
The tide seems to be turning and Ohio State seems to be more ready to pivot, from some early things I have heard.

Per Birm:
They are working on ways to incorporate the collectives, that's been going on for the last few weeks. Still not going to just chase bad investments.

Should semipro/college players be paid, or allowed to sell their stuff? (NIL and Revenue Sharing)

Thanks, I spent the last several years of my career negotiating multi million dollar agreements for a Fortune 500 company, so my thoughts immediately go to contract complexity (it's also why I find this stuff interesting in retirement). A football only, 30 school league certainly makes that doable.

And I have to admit, there is an elegance to it that I really like. But it is a very radical change from the current status quo which will make getting there difficult.

I think Kentucky(?) already did something where the athletic department is now an LLC?

As far as the radical shift, I think the catalyst will simply be the old model simply gets unsustainable. Too much NIL money demand, not enough ROI, the current attempt at a control structure gets defeated in court, some combination of the two, who knows?

I am pretty confident that total open and free market never lasts. I'd be willing to make a big bet on that.
I really was intrigued by this convo, but wanted to keep the 2026 recruiting thread about the 2026 recruits. And you guys were providing some deep info regarding CFB restructuring along with NIL and revenue sharing. Figured it'd be more pertinent to continue in this thread

Cleveland Guardians (2025 Season Thread)

At least the guy that Cleveland traded for a pitcher that they DFA'd in the middle of the very next season hit two homers tonight...

Yandy Diaz hit a HR too.

We traded him to Tampa for Jake Bauers

Diaz has carved out a nice career in 7 seasons with Tampa

Jake Bauers hit .218 in 2 years with Cleveland, he's somehow still hanging around but boasts a .207 career average without any power stats.
