Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

I think when he got to Fox and they gave him the bag and he knew that his job was safe, he stopped caring. He’s their OG at this point with Skip getting canned

I can see that. I think he’s always been more of a bandwagon rider. But he used to have some interesting takes that were outside the box but were pretty spot on. Now it just seems he’s the grumpy stubborn old guy, mixed with the message board guy who just says things for engagement. And he mixes that with an air of superiority, yet he’s always the least knowledgeable in every category on any sport
None of this explains Pat McAffee.

Ole Miss Rebels (official thread)

Looks like Ole Miss is going to appeal. Guess Chambliss could be looking at a contract that pays him in excess of $5 million if he plays for them one more season. NFL projections are he will be a late pick or UDFA, so getting paid now definitely makes the most sense.
This demonstrates how odd the economics of college football have become. A quarterback making more money staying at Ole Miss than by going to the NFL. I have to think NFL revenue per team is much higher than SEC revenue per team, so where is the money coming from? Boosters I guess.

What year was Ohio State's best offense? What year was Ohio State's best defense?

Offense: 2014 team. After starting sort of slow (scored 34 in a win against Navy and 21 in the only loss of the year to Va Tech), they scored 42+ points a game in 13 of their 15 final games (the two they didn't were both 31-point games against Penn State and Minnesota). They scored 672 points totals for the year (44.8 ppg) and 617 points (47.5 ppg) after their "slow start".

Defense: 1973 team, and it's not even close. They gave up two TDs and two FGs total in their first eight games, and of those only one TD in a five-game stretch. I'll say that again: The defense gave up a single score in a five-game stretch. In their final two regular seasons games, they gave up 13 to Iowa and 10 to Michigan. For the regular season--10 games--they surrendered a grand total of 43 points. They did give up 21 to USC in the Rose Bowl, but their offense scored 42 points.

That ‘68 defense is hard to beat. Tatum and Stillwagon. Shut down Leroy Keyes and OJ Simpson. Undefeated, national champs. I’m going with ‘68 for D.
The ‘68 defense gave up 15 points per game.

The ‘73 defense gave up 5.8 points per game. The perfect season was marred by the 10-10 tie when Corny Greene had an injured thumb and never even tried a pass.

Indiana Hoosiers (2025 National Champions)

But would you have said that going into the season, without the pleasure of hindsight?

And there is a balance, but fans have to realize that sometimes the guys in the Portal won't have the big names with stars next to them. And that's where the issue lies between fans and actual team. Going into the season everyone talked about Ethan Onianwa being the next great OT at OSU, and Phillip Daniels was an afterthought who wouldn't contribute for another year... Logan George(63) and Beau Atkinson(15) is who OSU got at DE in the Portal, IU got Stephen Daley (84) and Kellan Wyatt(91), I don't think anyone would've wanted that swap before the season. In hindsight it looks bad, but we don't have that luxury in real time. I doubt any OSU fan would've wanted Day to pursue a Cal QB transfer, over former 5star and Bama transfer Sayin. Some guys pan out, and others don't. But the transfers you only have a year for them to pop, whereas HSers have multiple years, and their bodies can still develop and they can still be taught some good practice and work habits
Just seeing this. But yes I would’ve felt the same. He did well at Maryland so I remember him.

He was a tough back and that’s pretty telling when he’s on a bad team.
