Read in several places that Diebs and Bjork are 'negotiating' for a new salary for Diebs. Article goes on to say that Diebs won't be back unless they come to mutual resolution. That gives credence to Mike's 3 year contract, but never get all the information, do we? Anyway, personally believe that Diebs has done enough to stay around. But would think that maybe the 'negotiations' might hinge on how much NIL is allocated to men's basketball. Also heard that tOSU is 14th in B10 basketball NIL. It's a given that football is #1, but if Gene Smith were still around, he'd certainly want to spike up basketball, as it's a Sears Cup point producer, so the monster that is tOSU athletic department should flex a bit. Finally, it was noted that LeBron needs to be tapped for some on-going donations for basketball. If he's proud of his locker in tOSU basketball room, maybe he can/could spring for some NIL money? Thinking $5 million per year might get us some top flight personnel......

That's what the Dance is all about. Playing the games. Upsets are legendary. What, #1 Arizona was upset by #16? Historically, some of the biggest upsets have been #12 rising up to smite #5. (nothing scientific, just my fuzzy recollections). Probably why the term "Cinderella Team" was coined. Assuming tOSU beats TCU, going up against #1 Duke will certainly be a challenge. Not enough of a chance for me to bet cash, but if everyone plays their best game, certainly possible. But let's beat TCU first, then scheme the Duke game after.....

Well, sounds like Devin will be thrown into the fire this year. As the newbie, suspect the opposing QB will target the newcomer. And that the S will be slanting toward Devin's CB side.

Just my IMO's:
1. Retiring jersey numbers is dumb and lame and dumb. And it's pretty lame. You can post the jersey numbers up in the stadium like Ohio State has, and then still let people use those numbers.
2. That being said, I understand that it is a tremendous honor to have your number retired. And I don't blame Leinhart at all. "You know what, Nerd? Get a different number and get THAT number retired."
3. Do kids really worry about what their number is that much? "I'm only going to that school if I can get my number." There used to be a show on Netflix - Last Chance U. I remember one season some kid went to the coach complaining because the coach gave him #36. He wanted a cooler number. The coach told him to go take a hike and fly a kite and cram the kite up his ass.
4. Speaking of numbers, there should be a rule against double numbers on teams. How do you fit 100+ players in 100 numbers? Easy: you use more than 100 numbers. There's space on the jerseys to add a "1" to the front of some numbers. Boom. You now have 200 numbers. No repeats.
