This is exactly what I thought would happen.

One-year postseason ban is imminent.

I think that is likely. Also the punishment won't be rendered until after the championship games are played and the bowl games are announced. That one year would likely be for 2012 from what I'm gathering on twitter.

You'd hope Gene Smith would be smart enough, though, if he felt that a bowl ban was forthcoming that they'd tack that onto the self-imposed punishment.

New Timeline:

There will be another Committee on Infractions hearing that will take place in either December or January. Expect a final ruling in March 2012.

Failure to Monitor plus Repeat Offender status almost guarantees a post-season ban for NEXT YEAR. NCAA will probably tack on additional scholarship reductions.

Think USC-Lite sanctions. Probably half of what they received. Not good.

Yeah, we really should have self-reported all of these violations.

Oh, wait...

:shake:

Farking ridiculous. Yeah, we didn't catch them before they happened, which isn't a great thing, but FFS we turned ourselves in and said "Hey, we found these as well." I still don't know how we could have caught them beforehand anyway, since the players never even went to the compliance department about the issues.

EDIT: Just close the fucking book on this already. We self-report a shit-ton of minor issues every year, from what I recall. At this glacial pace they'll be at this until the end of the world or the NCAA, whichever comes first, because they'll just keep tacking on everything we self-report.

Well, if it is imminent, then this is the year for it to happen. I hate to see it happen, but at least a new coach would not have to deal with it moving forward if it this year's bowl and it should have no affect on recruiting moving forward.

Edit: oops, looks like I may be wrong on that based on information supplied after I typed..

But its for failure to monitor the booster, not the original allegations. Thats why it may not be 15 scholarships

I'm thinking all of the issues combined will add up to more like 15 over 3 years.

I agree, but Delaney probably wants to keep OSU as a possibility for the inaugural Big Ten Title Game. I would personally rather have the post-season ban for this year. I just think next year's team has a chance to run the table with a favorable schedule.

Oh, for god's sake. Just decide already, NCAA. What the hell else are they doing that it takes this long to get a hearing?

They won't make their final decision until March 2012 so the one year ban would be NEXT season.
