"This seems to be by any standard of equity and fairness an incredibly steep price to pay for selling memorabilia and, if the position of the NCAA is to be accepted, receiving $700 extra dollars in pay from an employer."

You took that little piece of the quote way out of context.

I think his point was that "dollars" is redundant when you have already used "$".

Even on the day before a bye, the AP decided there needed to be a story about tOSU.

Man linked to Ohio State scandal got death threats

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The tattoo parlor owner whose purchase of Ohio State memorabilia triggered a far-reaching football scandal says he has received death threats and saw his family's finances destroyed.
Edward Rife pleaded guilty in June to drug trafficking and money laundering charges unrelated to the scandal. He is scheduled for sentencing next week.
A document filed by Rife's attorney Friday in federal court says Rife has spent the past year fearing for the safety of his family and children.

Cont'd ..
I've placed this here for tracking purposes, but I'm closing the thread until something meaningful happens.

Apparently tOSU has self-imposed a 5-scholarship reduction over the next 3 years, due to the Bobby DiGeronimo aspects of the NCAA violations. That's a total of 5 over a 3-year period, not 5 each for 3 years. Also, Failure to Monitor is now a charge levied by the NCAA, for Bobby DiGeronimo's actions as a booster.

Please, NO COMPARISONS TO PENN STATE in this thread.

Please adhere to that, and save me from taking the time to delete any posts that involve PSU. If you want to talk about that, go to the Sandusky thread.

The NCAA's Supplemental NOA, and the University's response to it, can be found at the top of this NCAA.docs link, under the November 10th heading.

The NCAA letter mentions that it will probably address tOSU's response at their December 10th, 2011 meeting. It now seems unlikely that the decision on any postseason ban will be rendered in time for the 2011 CCG and bowl bids.

The only thing Penn State has to do with anything here is if we get a postseason ban, that would leave them and Wisconsin playing an elimination game the final week for the division title, despite what we did, which would be unfortunate on too many levels to count. And if we beat both of those teams, it would be even worse.

That's 5 scholies per year over 3 years, or 5 total over 3 years? I'm guessing the former.

I've edited my post - the first info I saw didn't clarify it.

It's 5 total over 3 years, NOT 5 each for 3 years.
