Here's Today's Revelation:

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/feed/2010-12/osu-suspensions/story/car-dealer-osu-compliance-director-called-me-over-50-times

Aaron Kniffin, the Columbus, Ohio car salesman linked to Ohio State?s internal investigation into athletes receiving alleged preferential treatment, told Sporting News on Friday that every deal he made with players was cleared by the school?s NCAA compliance department ? in direct contrast to Ohio State?s claims.

Kniffin said he has sold more than 50 cars to Ohio State athletes and/or their relatives over the last five years, and that the OSU compliance staff directed players and relatives to him. OSU compliance director Doug Archie told The Columbus Dispatch that he had spoken to Kniffin only once and that he never sends players to dealerships.

?Doug Archie has called me well over 50 times,? Kniffin said. ?This year alone, I?ve talked to him 25-30 times. You can print out your Verizon (phone) bills; his numbers are right there calling me.?

When asked why Archie, who did not immediately respond to voice mail messages, said he only spoke to Kniffin once and denied that the deals were approved by OSU compliance, Kniffin said, ?That?s something you?ll have to ask him. I?ve got records of it.?

I don't know what kind of operation that assclown Smith is running down there, but if he keeps his job because of any "factor" you might as well paint Ohio State as a rogue program for the rest of our lives.

i see you've decided not to quote an important paragraph from that article:
Jim Lynch, of Ohio State media relations, told Sporting News: ?There was a misunderstanding with the original Dispatch story. While Doug Archie did in fact only speak to Aaron Kniffin once while he was at the first car dealership he worked at, they spoke often when Mr. Kniffin changed jobs and moved to the second dealership he worked at.?
a misunderstanding involving the dispatch? how can that be?

gibson... 300c... $0 title... err... umm... 300... cloth interior... hubcaps... $13,700 loan... trade-in.

i guess not including lynch's comment makes sense, though, considering you wouldn't be upset if ohio state received the death penalty.

Honestly, that paragraph is the worst bit of spin that I've ever ever heard. So, he tells The Dispatch that he only spoke to him "once." Never mentioning that he really spoke to him only once "while at that particular dealership." Wonder if he had fingers crossed behind his back when he gave the comment, knowing in the back of his mind that he had actually spoken to him regarding 50 deals? Perhaps Archie just misremembered the whole thing. Or, we can break out the old "blame the press" routine because clearly that reporter was supposed to divine what Archie meant. Actually, he wasn't supposed to looking into it at all according to a lot of views around here.

The reality is that our athletic department is rotten to the core right now and is in full denial/spin/admit only what's been reported in the press mode/spin some more/deny some more mode.

I can only hope that Gee and BoT are just spinning their wheels and waiting for the final ncaa report to come down before acting to cut the cancers out of our university.

Could you please post the transcripts of his interview with the Dispatch? Since you are so sure of what was said, I can only assume you have seen them. The original article doesn't even contain a direct quote on the matter. Without seeing his actual answer and the context to which it was given, I am not going to pass judgement.

we don't know everything that archie told the dispatch, which also hasn't exactly shown to be a trustworthy source of information.

yes, ohio state is in a world of mess right now. i think we shouldn't rush to judgment (*cough* death penalty *cough*) without having a better understanding of the situation, though. believing everything from the press or everything from ohio state is foolish.
