Prosecutors charge man who bought Ohio State memorabilia

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Federal prosecutors have charged the tattoo parlor owner who bought Ohio State football memorabilia with drug trafficking and money laundering.

Documents filed in U.S. District Court in Columbus on Friday indicate Edward Rife will plead guilty to the charges and cooperate with authorities.

An attorney previously told Ohio State coach Jim Tressel that at least two current players sold signed Ohio State memorabilia to Rife, who ran a local tattoo parlor.

Documents show Rife will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 200 pounds of marijuana, and one count of money laundering.

A quote from that story...

"He didn't want any harm to come on any players or the university or the program or coach Tressel or anyone," Palmer said. "If he's responsible for anything, it's being a quality Ohio State fan."

Can't argue that he was a fan. It's that word "quality" before it that I have major issues with...

You know, there's a reason that Ed Jennings tried to help lure the Cardinals to Columbus before they left for Arizona--even offering to let them use Ohio Stadium. It was so that people like him could go be a "quality fan" for somebody else.

Fuck Ed Jennings. Isn't he the one responsible for firing Earle?

What do you mean by everybody? Other drug dealers? Thats usually what law enforcement wants....bigger fish. I hope you dont think prosecutors give a shit about the NCAA investigation.

Not that 200lbs of weed is a small deal, but the money laundering is probably at the top of the list.

No, John Wolfe--and the rest of Jim Rhodes' holdovers on the board, including more than one local car dealer--were responsible for firing Earl Bruce.

Ed Jennings spent a decade undoing the craphole that Rhodes had put the university in, including doing the fundraising for that cancer hospital that you're so proud of.
