WR Chris Fields (official thread)
Chris should do whatever it takes to ensure that he has made the right choice. It's his future. He owes nothing to whomever "us" is.
Plus he'll be able to tell other visiting recruits to come here too !!

I have no problem with a free trip to SoCal or any other school. I am not sure that I would put it out in an interview. IMO it might be better to say everything is great, looking forward to being a Buckeye, and I will let you know what the Cali hotties look like in person.

But then again, I am not 17...

So, what do you think about Melvin fellows situation then? with your logic, he should stick to his commitment right? It happens all the time with kids after they commit. Chris just wants to experience and enjoy the recruiting process. i couldn't blame him for wanting to take other visits.

The difference here is that Chris has said all along that OSU is his dream offer, and it is at the very top of his list.

I don't think Melvin Fellows has said anything of the sort about the Illini.

Heck, If I were Chris I'd visit USC. I'd go to Hawaii, Pepperdine, Oregon, and Miami also. Why Not? Beautiful campuses with Hot Chicks is always a good thing when you're a High School Senior.

Bottom line is this "recruitment " is over. Anybody that doesn't believe that Chris is solid TOSU should ignore this thread for the next year until after signing day, then breath a sigh of relief. Chris' Coach is a "Buckeye" kind of guy, and in particular, a "Tressel" kind of guy. No way that Coach Culliver wants his prize pupil anywhere but here, and Chris feels the same way. Let him have his fun, then we'll all have "our" fun watching him in the S&G.

I am 110% with Woody on this. If you are blessed to be pursued by many schools for your services you absolutely without a shadow of a doubt take all 5 visits. Even if you are 100% you know the school you want to go to... You go to experience everything, make sure that the school you like is a better fit, and enjoy this small window in your life when people are chasing you.

I hope he goes to USC and everywhere else he wants to visit and finds the school that is best for him.

From a larger view unless there was some type of pressure (limited schollies, late in the recruiting process, etc) I would advise kids not to issue a verbal until they have taken their visits..

that is a wonderful thing at all ages my man!

If he comes to Pepperdine, he might be a little lost. We haven't had football since 1961.

But, we'd still love to have him visit... the beach is the only thing more beautiful than the 'Shoe, although that's not the case on Saturdays in the fall.

.:oh:

Thanks for the heads-up on that one Mali, I would quote Nathan Jessup in "A Few Good Men" here with the "Well, Don't I Feel Like a "F......., A......." but no cussing allowed in the recruiting forum. Never been to the Pepperdine campus, but have seen it in pics and it looks beautiful, as nice as any I've ever seen. On the other hand, Chris swings a pretty mean stick on the diamond. So maybe he'll head your way after all.

Peace.

Went to go see Chris on the diamond yesterday. Seriously, if any of you guys are local or happen to have Chris play your local team, go and check him out. He can basicaly play the outfield by himself. A walk is a double. A liner to the outfield is a double. And anything in the gap is a triple. Chris had a double and triple yesterday, and his speed is absolutely electrifying. I watched him go home to third in what I figured to be about 10 seconds. It was probably closer to 12, but it was impressive as heck. We're gonna have a blast watching this kid!

Peace.

Chris is obviously a talented player. At this point, I think the main thing to work on is acceleration and getting to that top speed. Getting separation is the biggest thing in college because you are not going to get a whole lot of yards by running around with the ball in the backfield.

Please crazy, let that thought go. I've lived in this town my entire 45 years, and have been involved in Painesville Baseball in one way or another for about 35 of those. Chris looks great on the field because of his speed, but I played with, against, and coached at least 100 kids over the years that were better than Chris and none of them ever advanced beyond "weak" college level. Chris might get drafted next year simply because he will be a 5* football player who happens to play baseball. If that happens, it will be in about round 40. Chris loves playing baseball, and is good for this level, but he knows where his ticket is punched to, about 150 miles south of here, in a town called "Columbus" and in a venue called "The Shoe."

Peace.
