In an attempt at pulling out of their season-long freefall, the Indianapolis Colts seemingly have tried everything and everybody.
Well, not everybody, at least not in a realistic sense.
Anthony Gonzalez waits.
The 2007 first-round draft pick could have walked out of New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday night after the Colts' historic 55-point loss, raised his hand and said, "I had nothing to do with it."
He has had little to do with anything this season and has little reason to suspect he will be used Sunday at Tennessee.
Gonzalez's contributions to the team's 0-7 start and the NFL's No. 27-ranked passing attack: zero catches. He has been targeted once.
"I'm assuming at some point I'll get an opportunity," he said Wednesday. "Whether it's now or some other time, I have no idea.
"But at some point I'll get another opportunity to play football on a Sunday. When that occurs, I truly believe I'll be better than I have ever been in my life. I honestly believe that."
