WR Albert Dukes (official thread)

Albert Dukes redshirted last year, but was impressive in practices. Dustin Fox, a senior on last years team, thought he was the best receiver on the team last year! I saw him in the jersey scrimmage in April and he looks like a bigger Ted Ginn. He's the next great receiver at OSU, IMHO.
His legal problems were strange. He was accused having having sex with a 12 year old girl before he stepped foot on campus, but the charges were filed twice by the girl's mother, and also dropped by her twice. I'm not sure about a suspension, but I don't think he will be.

I don't think Dukes was suspended from the Bowl game because he was already being redshirted. I guess they may of just let him stay back in Columbus while the team went to wherever it was they went to. (I forget what Bowl Game OSU played in this year) My guess would be that he will be suspended for the first game next year. That would be a nice little move to make though, suspending a guy who is already redshirted. I am sure Blobby Bowden has done that a few times before :)

I hope he has success next year. I hope all the Florida guys do.

Dukes is getting a lot of attention on this thread. I clicked on it to read about Thompson! He sounds extremely fast, and, size-wise, very similar to what we've gotten twice now from the same school. Anyone know what he might be thinking? It can't hurt OSU to have a couple of "trail-blazers" in front of him that he has watched go straight from his field to The Horseshoe. Assuming we go light on WR's this class, I would venture a guess that JT could be all over this kid soon, if not already. Throw in the fact that if Dukes does indeed begin to dominate, like I think he can, the big 3 might start to realize that the Buckeyes have stolen some good ones and might not wanna see it happen again. Here's hoping we can keep a great thing going. Thanks Belle Glade!

Forgot to mention....it might be about time for Deonte to let the hair grow, he would look good in some dreads....

he was with the team at the alamo bowl
iirc i believe the whole florida legal situation came to light just beforethe alamo bowl, and he did travel there with the team but was restricted from many of the social activities and confined to the hotel

it may have been someone else that was restricted this way? but I think it was dukes

Shaker....you have it correct....he was with the team in SanA, but had a miserable time b/c of his restrictions......don't let a gator fan try to spin anything.....

During one practice this spring....I was standing directly between Salley and Whitner when Dukes made an amazing downfield catch.....

Salley and Whitner looked at each other, smiled and said; "There's nothing he can't Dukes."

I think he has talent, but I see him getting lost on the depth chart. He will see the field occasionally. There is much talk about Maurice Wells being used in space, possibly out of the slot. If so, that could put a 6th "WR" ahead of Dukes imo (in addition to Ginn, Gonzo, Hall, Robiskie and probably Hartline).

He was used out of the shot-ginn in both the jersey scrimmage and spring game. That could be a way for him to make an impact despite a loaded WR depth chart.
