WR Albert Dukes (official thread)

There's no doubt Dukes arrived with much to offer this program. He had the one "minor" set back and has struggled to get back on track. I still think dukes can make a name for himself before he leaves. I have faith in the guys from Muck City

i definitely look for dukes to see some action. we have a lot of talent at WR but dukes has glimpses of holmes in him everytime ive seen him play. must be a belle glade thing. i think he is an impreesive player. i was happy to see him get a couple solid catches against illinois last year and i hope he gets some time this year.

Right now Dukes is just buried on a very wealthy depth chart.

I would put him sixth

behind Ginn, Gonzo, Hall, Robo, Hartline.

The thing about it is that an injury(knock on wood) or someone not being productive and him stepping up could mean he could just as easily see the field. We have two guys leaving this year with Ginn and Hall which would mean he would be in the top 4 for his junior year.

I think he will be just fine, and just is an early impact guy.

As Jwins said he has been put in the shot ginn formation, which could be fun to watch if he starts running reverses and getting the screen passes. The staff must see something if they are putting him there.

Personally, I'd put Dukes ahead of Hartline. But that's just the Floridian in me.

he has the talent, and as long as he puts in the work he'll get his chance. hall is obviously gone next year, and ginn might be too. opens up spots, and it really takes only one great year to make a statement ala terry glenn '95 (im not saying he's gonna be the next glenn, just an example of a breakthrough season after struggling)

Player didn't follow Gator father's footsteps

COLUMBUS (AP) -- Albert Dukes has Gator orange and blue in his blood, but he'll be playing in Ohio State scarlet and gray on Jan. 8. "It just makes it more intense," Dukes said. "Me being from Florida, playing against the team I was almost born to go to -- now I'm playing against them for the national championship."

Good to hear things like this about Albert.

Tressel isn't the only one who has noticed a veteran who is stepping up. Defensive back Malcolm Jenkins said that wide receiver Albert Dukes is also shining.

"He runs great routes," said Jenkins.

"He's probably the hardest out of all the receivers to read. I think he does a great job studying what he wants to do, studying his routes and practicing. I think he'll be a great receiver this year."

Dukes up for an increased role this season
JASON LLOYD, Morning Journal Writer
08/19/2007

''He's one of the receivers on this team that gives me the most trouble,'' Jenkins said. ''He should surprise a lot of people this year.''

Jenkins called Dukes one of the better route runners on the team, a trait that separated Holmes and made him a first-round draft pick of the Super Bowl champion Steelers last year.

''I think he's playing faster than he has in the past,'' receivers coach Darrel Hazell said. ''Before he used to process things as they came, now he's reacting and playing faster. The big thing for Albert is going to be how consistent he can be.''
