Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

But I'm concerned that Fickell hasn't spent time on enough staffs to be able to know people of the caliber necessary to be effective assistants at this level. I'm especially concerned that he could assemble an effective offensive staff, including someone who is competent at developing a good playbook, formulating a good game plan and then calling the right plays.

That could be true. Then again, once Bollman is fired and Luke starts looking, I am sure the resumes and phone calls will flood him. I have no doubt that names will start floating around about an up and coming OC that would be perfect for Ohio State. Coach Fickell is not coaching in a vacuum and he was not as a DC during his years coming up through the OSU ranks. He has connections.

I know this is ridiculous and would never happen (Nor would you want it to) but just for fun's sake, what do you think the NCAA would do if tOSU re-hired Tressel? Would it even be possible?

For some reason I think this would hilarious. Imagine what ESPiN would say about that.

So - you're one of the young, spoiled fans then?

Just giving you a hard time. You are like Gator fans since the 1990s that think success is a birthright. They are wrong. You need to savor the good runs. There will eventually be some during your life that aren't so good. That is when you get to prove your loyalty to a program by not getting down and abandoning them when they show - definitely show - that they will NOT win every game, and expecting that is non-nonsensical. Expecting them to win is not being a great fan. Supporting them when they aren't so good is what makes the measure of a fan.

I hope that you don't get tested on that any time soon.

Thanks for the lecture, Papa Gator!

I am not at all like Gator fans who think success is a birthright. I know it is not. We are 4-3 right now. I live on the West Coast and wear my buckeye gear win or lose, rain or shine (not that there's much of the former here :tongue2:). When I lived in Ann Arbor, I wore my buckeye gear there too, win or lose (not that there was much of the latter at that time either).

Expecting to win is not non-nonsensical, it is confidence. I am always confident in Buckeye football because yes, I am a spoiled fan. They've been great for the majority of my lifetime thus far, but that's not why I'm a fan- it's just why I'm confident. Get it?

WTF were you doing there? Aborting baby horses from the horrible life they would have lived?

 Knew that was coming.

I was in school at Eastern Michigan, which is in Ypsilanti, which borders Ann Arbor. I actually has some buddies at EMU who were Buckeye fans too, it was surprisingly a very unscUMmy university- not many Meatchicken fans.

But anyway, the two campuses are about 5 miles apart. I actually lived in Ann Arbor directly above a scUM player at my apartment complex- Tim Jamison, maybe you've heard of him, he was picked up by the Texans.

Why does everyone assume that if Luke is retained any of the offensive staff is let go?

If Luke says he is retaining the whole offensive staff then I doubt Luke would be retained as the head coach. The higer ups would require it IF they choose to keep Luke.

Though I don't see this happening, if Luke wins out the rest of our remaining games, which would include the Big Ten Championship game and a Bowl game,
I think he returns...

In light of all the crap and opposition, how could you fire a guy who was handed a train wreck and finished the season with 8 straight wins, beating an undefeated Illinois, Wisky and perhaps TSUN team, winning the Conference Championship and a BCS bowl game?

Anythings possible, right? Again, I don't see it happening, but that doesn't mean it won't....

:osu:

Wisconsin would have to lose two games, one to us, for this to happen. I don't see that in the future. Laying an egg, at home, to Sparty is quickly coming back to bite the bucks in the ass.

Gruden has just signed a 5-year extension with The Mouse to stay with MNF.

EDIT: Correction. Josh Krulewitz (PR) at ESPN wrote "agrees to," not "signed." Formality. Anyway, this probably takes Gruden off the board.
