Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

Part of me wonders if he just took this job for all the guaranteed money. Which, if he did, fine, more power to him. Whatever. But man, if he actually wanted to compete and thought he could win eventually win, he could barely have messed this up more if he tried. Came in with a bizarre approach from the beginning and then unforced error after unforced error.

He was making over $10 million a year working for Fox, not to mention the speaking gigs that come with it. This was about proving he could win anywhere.

He said Lawrence was the best college QB he'd ever seen and it appears he grossly overestimated how quickly he and Barbie could turn around the 1-15 Jags. At this point he looks like a guy begging to get fired just so he can walk away with whatever dignity he has left (and some cash).

Dignity appears to be in short supply. He looks like a petulant child demanding to know who else he can blame since he “always wins”. Sometimes that can work with wide-eyed college kids, but not with guys making 7 figures in your huddle.

Everyone could see this coming a mile away. Losing Kills him. It's part of what makes him a great coach. But if you can't deal with losing and going mental everytime you do. You'll predictably melt down in the NFL. He'd melt down at 8-8 let alone at 2-11

It is like watching a slowly developing train wreck. I want to watch yet I cringe while watching it. His stock crash is taking his legacy down with it. It is, I’m afraid, diminishing Ohio State’s success while he was here somewhat.

this is turning to be damn near the worst case scenario for Meyer

the Jags will find a cause to fire him or get a better settlement

I don't think this effects his college football legacy much at all. But, like many in this thread, Ialso thought this was an awful idea for all the reasons we're seeing play out. He was excellent in the commentator gig and got to be around the game without the stress levels that are a legit threat to his health. I love Urban still and wish he would just enjoy his family and get out of the coaching game. He can say he tried at the NFL level and it didn't work, no shame in that. I get the drive to coach, but there's more important things in life.
