Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

I don't disagree one bit.

Just pointing out that the optics would be bad and that ND's "Holier-than-Thou" B.S. Schtick would be severely exposed, but the media will spin the shit out of it and cover for them any way.

You already saw this with the hiring of Kelly. They literally hired right under Uc’s nose after their most successful season in school history up until this year. And had him leave before their 1st ever NY6 bowl. That’s a truly POS move, and here we are today, and no one even mentions that exit outside of the Queen City

Yep, not mentioned once in all the meltdowns from reporters over how Kelly left ND for LSU. Not once.

CMU fans (yes apparently they exist!) apparently hate Kelly too because he left them for UC in similar circumstances.

Look how our own members turned on him when that bit of grind showed up this year. The lack of success and that little episode brought up all of the old stuff from his past. Problem is, I am not on that train. I like the guy and what he did to the program at Ohio State. Perhaps he was set up and that film edited? Was he encouraging that young lady or pushing her away? Doing anything but apologizing, even if he had no reason, was not an available option. So, then there is the suspension at Ohio State, the gangster paradise in Florida. No, I really think his brand is very much damaged in the age in which we live. That TV gig he had was gold. It had speaking revenues, book deals, etc. All of that looks pretty dim right now. I just think he was a fool to do this.

Eh. His brand will recover once he goes back to college and wins again.
Sorry - I just don’t see Urban’s and Saban’s situations as being that comparable. Saban was 15-17 in 2 seasons. Little controversy…or least less than Urban. Saban didn’t have the baggage from his college days that Urban still has. For some reason the media mostly hates Urban.

I feel Urban COULD be a great college coach again. But in this era where the media decides your fate as much as your own talents and skills does, Urban may be too big of a risk for as long as his shelf life is.

Urban Meyer's debut season as an NFL head coach has continued to go south, with the Jacksonville Jaguars now 2-11 following a shutout loss to the Tennessee Titans Sunday. Reports of mounting dysfunction between Meyer and Jaguars staff and players have been numerous, and CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora shed some additional light on deteriorating chemistry within the Jaguars organization under Meyer's leadership.

"I mean, look, he's been degrading and deriding his coaches in front of players since the summer. ... It's been an ongoing problem," La Canfora said on CBS Sports HQ. "As to whether or not he specifically called them losers, I can tell you he got in front of his staff in a meeting and said 'I'm a winner. You can check my resume. I'm a champion. What have you won? What have you ever won? Go around the room and tell me what you have won.' We can (nitpick) whether he specially called people losers or not, but frankly he's done much worse out on the playing field and in individual meetings.

"His overall — the way he comports himself with players and coaches is utterly distasteful, and it's been an issue since the very early days of his regime. He's lost whatever lingering trust he had with some players and coaches. Trent Baalke, the GM, is now distancing himself from Urban Meyer as well."

"I think if you gave Baalke a truth serum, he'd say that Charlie Strong should take over this football team — former longtime college head coach and assistant head coach/linebackers coach — with that team right now," La Canfora continued. "He's seen as the anti-Urban Meyer and someone who coaches and players can rally around at least as a human being if nothing else. Meyer has repeatedly been caught in lies — lying to players, lying to coaches and lying about why James Robinson was benched a week ago. It's completely broken, and whether or not Shad Khan gets around to doing something this week or maybe next week, should they lose to Houston again, remains to be seen.

"But I can tell you the sense I get from players in that locker room is that if Urban Meyer is still their head coach at the end of the season and if players are given the chance to do exit interviews at the end of the season ... people will not be holding back about their feelings on Urban Meyer. Trevor Lawrence went public last week. When that young man is willing to say what he said last week, that's a cry for help to ownership. We'll see whether Shad Khan reacts."

Hopefully this isn't effecting his health, and when he moves on from coaching in the NFL he has a healthy/happy/long retirement.
