Part of me wonders if he just took this job for all the guaranteed money. Which, if he did, fine, more power to him. Whatever. But man, if he actually wanted to compete and thought he could win eventually win, he could barely have messed this up more if he tried. Came in with a bizarre approach from the beginning and then unforced error after unforced error.

If UrbAn was canned by JAX right now, I can bet ND would come calling. Heck, I’d even bet that FreemAn was ND’s 3rd option after Fickell and Urban. ND loves nothing more than to tout a big name and throw that in everyone’s face. Hence why when they went after the hot name in Willingham, that went after that scorching name in Weis, and had no problem replacing him with the equal scorching name in Kelly. Freeman is a major drop off in name recognition. Not saying that he can’t do the job, but his name doesn’t move the needle like UrbAns would

I could see that possibly happening if Urban were out at Jax pronto. It would be ugly optics for ND though, especially since they promoted Freeman already, without having any reason to need to immediately.

No one gives a damn about optics if it produces wins and your Admin thinks they won the hire. Example Miami(twice), LSU and USC. All can be seen as bad optics from fans who aren't of those respective schools. And the fans of those schools could care less about outside opinions

I don't disagree one bit.

Just pointing out that the optics would be bad and that ND's "Holier-than-Thou" B.S. Schtick would be severely exposed, but the media will spin the shit out of it and cover for them any way.
