Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

I think one of Urbs biggest problems (though one of many) is that he has at least one coach and at least one player who, possibly in cahoots, run to any publication they can to trash their boss. Going to assume he wasn’t questioning the resumes of the coaches he has personally worked with in the past.

The boss has done himself no favors after coming in without an understanding of how rosters work, spewing the same trite sayings from college, and hiring the worst offensive staff possible. But he’s obviously got to smoke out and squash the sources that drop new tips to SI and NFL.com every week.

“I said this a couple of weeks ago, and I’ll reiterate it,” Finebaum said. “I don’t know Shad Khan. He’s obviously done something to become a billionaire, but he’s proving to be a moron and an idiot every day he allows Urban Meyer to remain the head coach of that franchise. This was weekend was disgraceful — not in the allegations — but how Urban responded to them.”

Finebaum also asserted that Meyer has been dishonest throughout his whole career. It worked about for him in college football, but Meyer’s approach simply has not worked out with NFL players, and it’s hard to see him returning in 2022.

“I said this when he was at Ohio State, and I’ll say it again now … Urban has always been a liar and a fraud,” Finebaum said. “I don’t know why it took so many people so long to realize that. That’s over on one side. The other side, I thought he was one of the truly great college football coaches of his generation. You don’t have to be a saint to be a successful football coach. But this experiment is a bust. It’s not going to work out. I’m sure the owner is just trying to ride out the season, as disastrous as it is. If he allows Urban to come back, then he’s disassociating and distancing himself from the entire franchise and its fan base.”

The ESPN personality must have an axe to grind with the former Ohio State Buckeyes coach.

Well, isn't it the ESPN corporate policy to trash anything past, present, or future Ohio State?

What about Urban is fraudulent? He's a great college football coach with baggage. He was never not that.

Why am I trying to apply basic logic to Paul Finebaum? That's the real question I should be asking.

The commentary on Urban is weird. The Lions suck and there isn't a story every hour about how their coach is trash (he is). Nagy is ruining Justin Fields and you aren't getting ESPN ticker updates about his life. It's weird. And like numbers says......none of what Urban has done is new. It's just lazy reporting at this point.

Meh, it generates clicks I suppose.

I'll repeat myself from earlier in this thread, I'm glad he's gone and not our problem any more. Thanks for the memories, coach.

Didnt everybody on the planet pick the Jaguars to lose every game or almost every game this year and Urban would be a frustrated mess? Now that it's happening why is everyone acting like it's a shock?
I think everyone outside of Jacksonville & Urban saw a rough season ahead. Urban is really the only one I see acting surprised with how the Jags are doing this season. I don't think 11W is shocked, just using the contrast and using that as an angle for a column.

Former Jaguars kicker Josh Lambo claims Urban Meyer kicked him during August practice
...
Lambo was released by the Jaguars in October. He was 5 for 7 on extra-point attempts and 0 for 3 on field-goal attempts. He later spent a week with the Pittsburgh Steelers squad in November, but he never made the active roster.

Hell, I'd kick him too...

Sounds like Urban was the more accurate of the two.

He was awful. I went to a Jags game in September vs the Cardinals. It would be a stretch to say that Lambo cost them the game, but I'd say that he killed any chance they had of making a comeback with his XP misses.
