Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

But why take Pantoni and not take Marotti ? I mean hopefully they all stay put, given how important they are to our program, but what role could a guy like Pantoni play in an NFL Franchise ? If you recall Urban has said many times, and I think it's pretty obvious, how having a S&C coach like Marotti can complete change the mentality of your players, which would be far more useful to an NFL franchise, especially one like Jacksonville, that outside of that AFCCCG they played a few years back, have never really displayed a winning mentality ?

I pose this question, since in the NFL you don't really have to convince guys to play for your team in the same way one does in college, and given that they all earn money, some more than others, and are, hopefully, mature enough to take care of themselves, what function do you see Pantoni perform for the Jaguars ?
Pantoni would be a pseudo GM for the team. His position now at tOSU is not to different from that. I don't see Meyer being the standard coach but more like a team manager/planner...kinda like a CEO if you will.

Marotti I'm guessing because how ingrained he is and he considers himself a Buckeye now. Not saying Pantoni doesn't love tOSU but he is from FL and he is Urban's guy.

Not saying you're wrong, I haven't seen/heard anything, but I don't follow your reasoning for most of this, aside from Pantoni being from Florida. A first time NFL head coach using a "GM" with no NFL experience isn't a recipe for success.

I also don't see Meyer being hands off to that extent, personally. He's used to having complete control over the entire operation.

Thats fair...just repeating what I've heard and I stated this could all be wrong or change.

I just don’t see how Urban’s whole system, including all those key personnel who have been integral to his CFB dominance, would translate to the NFL, at all.
I don't get it either. Wasn't most of his success due to his ability to bring the best assistant coaches and recruiters to his school. That doesn't happen in the NFL. I don't see him out scheming NFL coaches with Jacksonville's roster

I just don’t see how Meyer succeeds in the NFL with his schemes, when they started seeming to be outdated his last days at OSU. How many times will he try and run Lawrence? Jags have little talent, and little fan base. They are years off of beating Indy or Tennessee, and Houston has better pieces. For someone with serious health concerns, accepting the Jags position is almost like a death wish if he had such concerns with a top 3 program while at OSU.

Maybe it's the perfect combination of money and no pressure that he can't find anymore in cfb?
No pressure as an NFL head coach? No pressure is a Fox studio gig (at which he's fantastic). AAD at tOSU is no pressure. There may be less pressure as an NFL coach than there is at tOSU (or maybe not), but there is still plenty of pressure.

Nobody gives a shit if Jacksonville wins or loses. I guess add competition to the equation. He doesn't get competition being an AD.
