I understand the desire for more money, but as someone who works (or, at least, I get paid to work - whether I do the work or not is another question), I'm always looking for an excuse to not have to work, anymore. And from my position, if I had the money that Meyer was making for years, I'd be happy not working at all.

Of course, if I had the money Meyer was getting paid, I'd probably spend it faster than I think I would, since my lifestyle would definitely change.

Horns247 reported on Dec. 6 that a weeks-long flirtation between UT administrators and Meyer had fizzled with Meyer telling UT officials he isn't interested in returning to college coaching because of stress-related health concerns (Meyer has an arachnoid cyst on his brain lining that has caused him issues in the past) as well as Meyer's concerns about the transfer portal and a possible one-time transfer rule being enacted in 2021.

Horns247 has reported since then, according to sources close to the situation, Meyer has been looking into possible NFL opportunities, because there is more of an off-season and no transfer portal in the NFL. Jacksonville and the Los Angeles Chargers are jobs Meyer has expressed interest in, according to sources.

Jaguars expected to move on from Doug Marrone with eyes on Urban Meyer as possible replacement

The Jaguars haven't made a final decision on coach Doug Marrone's future, but he's expected to be replaced in the days following Sunday's finale against the Colts -- and they're expected to make a run at least one possible big-name replacement.

The team has shown interest in former Florida and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, who has been lining up a staff and telling people he's close to in the football community that he expects to land in Jacksonville, per sources.

The Jaguars won't make a firm and final decision on Marrone until after the season, but this is the expected outcome provided Jacksonville feels confident it can find Marrone's replacement.
