Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

And if the reason is because he loves Ohio State.......man, I dunno. I know he's got a lot of money already, but you are still allowed to love Ohio State from Texas. A good handful of 5 star kids certainly do.
When you’ve got enough money, legacy becomes more important. Urban was fucking great at Ohio state, but I do think his peak was in 2008. Florida collapsed while he was still there so he needed to do it again to save his legacy. He got close enough to that peak at Ohio State, and he set the school up for the future. He retired as good as anyone. Trying a third time is a big risk.

That cyst is not going away. Financially, he is making more than enough from the various gigs. He did not have Texas written into every contract he entered before he came back to Ohio State, but he did have Ohio State in them. There is a point in your career when you determine that you have proved everything that you ever need to prove, had enough crap and politics, and that you will do only what you want to do. Urban Meyer appears to have reached that point.

Make 7 figures in a seasonal part-time, zero-stress job that you seem to really enjoy and doesn't happen to piss off your wife and daughters, OR take a boatload of cash that you don't need and take arguably the most stressful job in college football at the literal modern graveyard of coaches. His decision was not surprising at all.

I haven't scrolled back to see if this has already been said, but I think this could have been/was a colossal trolling of Tom Herman; get-back for Herman's bullshit post-tOSU conduct. "I can come in and take your job, if I want. You know it, I know it, and now the rest of the football world, including recruits, knows it. Nah, I'm good. I don't want it. You can keep it." What better recruiting work for us?

The beauty is in the result not the intent necessarily.

Because that’s what happened whether Urb was consciously doing it or not.

Kiss the ring Fredo. Kiss that fucker.

Pulling numbers out off my ass, but imagine having 50 mil in the bank and making enough money with other easy jobs that you never even have to touch the bank. The trash company comes to you and offers 10 mil a year for 5 years to ride on the back of a truck and pick up trash 12 hours a day 6 days a week. You can double your wealth in 5 years, but is it really worth the pain in the ass when you don't need it?

I dunno about zero stress. After Michigan beating a garbage Minnesota team, he had to listen to Reggie Bush suggest this was the year we'd lose to Michigan.....followed immediately by a segment where Charles Woodson said Kwity fucking Paye was in the Heisman club.

It has been said, but it needed to be said again.

And true or not, I choose to believe it.

Well, he clearly isn't worried he'll get big brained off the set.

Leinert seems to have a brain, but I can't help but wonder what goes through Urban's mind sitting across from Reggie and Brady in whatever plaid monstrosities they've chosen to pull from Herb Tarlek's closet and listening to whatever vapid nonsense emanating from their pieholes.

I had this discussion with. PITT friend of mine. Why wouldn’t PITT (insert whatever team you want) go in and offer urban around 20 million a year. It’s basically double anyone else. It’s about a half percent of their endowment of 4 Billion. Their stadium immediately fills up. Their merchandise sells like hot cakes. Ratings go up. They’ll recoup some of that based on sales. And if he says no offer him 30. It’s a drop in the bucket. Sign him to a lifetime contract he can opt out whenever he wants.
