University of Wisconsin football (59-0: Deal With It ... or Quit)

Heard some speculation from a guy in my office that the problem may be with Alvarez. Suggested that he meddles in the coaching - not like Dave Brandon incompetent meddling, but meddling nonetheless. Posited some theory regarding the Gordon injury and Anderson having said something like "I was told to say he had a hip injury" or something. I don't know.. just sorta laying that out there.

Erroneous. BWI has already figured it out that GA came to realize that the deck is stacked against any team not named Ohio State or Michigan and left to get away from this corrupt league and officials. That's the saner view over there. The other theory is that after the league conpsiracy to throw the BCG, Nebraska hired Reilly specifically so that GA would have an opening out West to take. Think about it.

  • Osborne and Alvarez are both on the committee and would have known what Ohio State needed to do to jump the b12 schools
  • Osborne still pulls the Cornstrings
  • Alvarez and Delaney order Anderson to throw the championship game in spectacular fashion with the promise that a job out West will open up for him.
  • Osborne orders Corn AD and President to fire Pelini and hire Reilly.

The Wild cars is how do they get a PAC school to cooperate?
  • Oregon State President, Ed Ray, spent most of his career at?................OHIO STATE!
  • Oregon State AD, Bod De Carolis, was both a coach and athletic department official at?................MICHIGAN

This seems to me like clearly the most likely reason Anderson (and Bielema) left. I'm sure Alvarez wants to have serious input into the program and guys get tired of it. The reasons everyone is throwing out there don't make any sense: frustration with academic standards? Since when is Wisconsin Harvard? That's literally the 1st time I've ever heard that brought up. And "he's a West Coast guy." Utah is not the west coast. Utah is not close to Corvallis.

Probably true. You don't see the turnover in Hockey and Basketball at UW, probably because Alvarez doesn't give a shit about them. As long as they compete well nationally (and they do), he stays away.

I never really figured Barry to be such a ball buster/meddler. I just thought he was your fat ass uncle who had to much to drink at Thanksgiving and kept screaming for the Cowboys to "RUN THE DIVE!"
The job was his for life - if he wanted to keep coaching, why the hell didn't he keep coaching?

It's a little disingenuous to say he doesn't care about hockey and basketball - I figure he realizes those, along with football, are the revenue sports and are the moneymakers at UW. Hockey especially has a tradition of excellence to uphold (they haven't been doing that lately) and the success the basketball team has had under Bo Ryan speaks for itself. He has never had to hire a basketball coach as athletic director (Ryan preceded him by three years), and he has said in the past that he won't hire a basketball coach when Ryan finally does retire.

But football is definitely his priority and his love, as one might expect. I do believe he has a hand, possibly too intrusively, in the day-to-day operations of the football team. When Andersen arrived on campus, he wanted to incorporate power-spread elements into the offense. This was something that was overdue, and in practice it was pretty much a complete failure, but it was a step in the right direction. I have no idea how much Barry pushed back against this implementation but I suspect it played a role in Gary leaving town.

Hard to argue the logic

Don't those people understand that they're playing with fire? Do the not think for one second that if the FAX and EVIDENTS of their theory get out that the B1G, and OSU and scUM will find them and kill them? I saw a couple of black helicopters heading that way not long ago. Just sayin....

What if the cult put the time and energy that they already spend into being a cult toward something more constructive? Like... building a stationary nuke in the basement of one of their laboratories that is timed to explode in 3 seconds?

Obviously they're not spending that time and energy reporting pedophiles running around the football facilities, they might as well do something with it.
