UEFA Champions League (Official Thread)

2nd legs begin tomorrow with Arsenal vs. AC Milan & Benfica vs. Zenit St Petersburg both kicking off at 2:45 pm.

AC Milan are up 4-0 on aggregate and barring some miracle at the Emirates from Arsenal, surely look to be through to the next round. Arsenal will be without Arteta & Diaby who both got hurt against Liverpool on Saturday. Gibbs, Benayoun and Rosicky are battling knocks as well so they could miss out as well.

Zenit St Petersburg will look to hold off Benfica at the Estadio da Luz in Portugal up 3-2 on aggregate. Benfica are without Ezequiel Garay and Pablo Aimar, but have lost only once at home in there past 19 European competition games. Zenit St Petersburg haven't won an away game in there last 5 attempts in European competition but did draw 0-0 at FC Porto earlier this season to place themselves in the round of 16.

That RVP volley from this weekend was absolutely SICK!

The assist from Song deserves some mention too. He put the ball where only van Persie could get to it. The finish was simply world class. He's scored 25 Premier League goals in 27 games now. Remarkable.

I'm betting on Ibra to do some work at the Emirates just like the last time he was there when he scored two in 2010. His 35 minute hat-trick last weekend has his confidence sky high now.

Tell me about it. As soon as I turned that Milan-Palermo game on, it was already 3-0. Then they showed the highlights. :yow1: MONSTER!

Starting lineups for Arsenal-Milan game:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Gibbs, Sagna, Rosicky, Song, Gervinho, Walcott, van Persie, Oxlade-Chamberlain

Milan: Abbiati, Silva, Mexes, Mesbah, Abate, van Bommel, Robinho, Emanuelson, Nocerino, El Shaarawy, Ibrahimovic

Should be an interesting game with the Gunners being down 4-0 on aggregate. They have to go all out to score so I'm looking forward to an open game from them.

Then again, I kind of want to watch the Benfica-Zenit St Petersburg game because it's 2-3 on aggregate.

Mexes has been really impressive lately. Glad he's FINALLY healthy! He may be the key piece in replacing Nesta at CB.

Stephen El Shaarawy has also been really impressive in a position of weakness for AC Milan.

I like Emanuelson getting the nod for the Starting XI to try and neutralize Walcott's speed on the wings.

Jesus, I take back what I said about Emanuelson. He's a turn out there. All Arsenal is doing is pressing Urby, he makes a terrible pass, Gunners counter-attack.

Get your heads out of your asses Milan.

Can't stand when Ibra moves up to play more of a midfield role, Robinho pops out in the midfield as well.. Leaving no real goal scorers up front.

Think we'll see Pato and possibly The Professor, Mr Seedorf in the second half.

Was it REALLY that difficult a call to make that required you to wait a solid 5 seconds after the play ended to blow your whistle? :shake:

Right call, horrible timing for the ref.

Yet again, the LB position plaguing Milan like no one's business. Letting Taiwo go to QPR was the worst decision they could have made.

Remarkable first half. Can't believe El Shaarawy blew that chance at the end of the half. How do you miss the target from that close ? I thought only Torres was capable of such misery. This 2nd half should be quite entertaining now that Arsenal believe they can do it & the Emirates is fully behind them as well.

Maxi Pereira scored in added time to put Benfica up 1-0 (3-3 Aggregate, Benfica with two away goals) over Zenit St Petersburg. Zenit will have to come out of there defensive shell in the 2nd half if they are to progress.
