Has to be. I know for a fact he came on as a substitute in the first home match against Napoli.

Yeah, that didn't take long at all. Victor Valdes with an absolute blunder in goal. That was beyond calamitous

Barca responded well after conceding that fiasco of an opener after 20 or so seconds. Messi did well to find Alexis Sanchez for the equalizer on 30 minutes to go into the half level. Madrid were unfortunate on the 2nd goal after an audacious volley from Xavi hit off Marcelo's foot only to dribble past a diving Iker Casillas and off the post. Cristiano Ronaldo blew an absolutely glorious cross from Xabi Alonso from about 10 yards out as he sent his header wide. They would pay the price for that mistake as a minute later, a nice run from Messi found Dani Alves open on the right wing, who then sent in a lovely cross for Fabregas to beat Fabio Coentrao to the spot to head in for the 3rd and final goal.

Barca are now level on points with Real Madrid in La Liga, however, Real Madrid have a game in hand with Barca leaving for Japan next week to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup. This puts a huge dent in what appeared to be the best Real Madrid team in years. I had penned them as favorites in the Champions League after United were ousted but I guess you can NEVER count out the winner of two of the last three European Cups.

Lyon - APOEL Nicosia
Napoli - Chelsea
AC Milan - Arsenal
FC Basel - Bayern Munich
Bayer Leverkusen - Barcelona
CSKA Moscow - Real Madrid
Zenit St Petersburg - Benfica
Marseille - Inter


Napoli has been handed yet another tough draw. Milan Arsenal should be an interesting matchup. I can see a few of these draws being pretty close which should set up for some nice drama.

This will never happen because the club in question (Sion) will comply, but laughing at the thought. Still will never happen though.

Always laugh at FIFA trying to be the ethical (and non-corrupt) party in any circumstance.

Round of 16 is underway. I like how UEFA splits these games up now because it gives you a better chance to watch the games you want to.

Today's results thus far at halftime:

Bayer Leverkusen 0 Barcelona 1 - Alexis Sanchez 40'
Lyon 0 Apoel Nicosia 0

Tomorrow's games are Zenit St Petersburg vs. Benfica at noon & AC Milan vs. Arsenal at 2:45.
