Ty Isaac (official thread)

well JCA has produced quite a bit of talent over the years, and they play some of the best competition in the state of Illinois, and Ty Isaac just shattered every record that school had as a junior and scored I believe 54 touchdowns total in one season.
So mfan, what were the quality defensive teams that he mislabeled in this post? If he's offbase, break it down for us.

I want to see Isaac against a decent defense. Against his schedule he is a MONSTER. However, only one of those teams that they played last season in 14 games played any sort of defense what-so-ever. I think Isaac plays against Providence next year which would be BY FAR the toughest D they will see.

I dont know guys, I'm just not sold that he can produce against a formidable defense. The same with Treadwell, although he may have went head to head with Standifer, I'll check the schedule. Of the 3 major skilled position recruits in IL I'd rank them in this order: 1. Bailey 2. Isaac 3. Treadwell.

Knowing a little something about the opponents in each players film helps me put into context their season #'s.

For example, my team (Loyola) played in week 2 the same team Isaac played in the Championship game. Their defense was THE worst defense of any team we faced all season that was considered good(and 3rd worst overall in 14 games). So I take the championship game with a grain of salt. Another team they faced (Marist, tied for conference championship) that Isaac put up great #'s against allowed 63, 51, and 48 points in consecutive weeks to unimpressive teams (51 to Isaac and JCA).

Now I wait with much anticipation for week 1 of the 2012 season because thats the only game I trust to get a good read on Isaac.
That's a very well written and detailed breakdown of why Isaac's competition was questionable. Feel free to offer your rebuttal.

"Some of the best competition in the state" because you heard that somewhere is not a rebuttal.

He has offers from every school in the country and is rated as a 5* by most services. He is the #1 RB on USC's board, and they only have like 15 offers to hand out and are being very selective with their offers this class.

Forgive me for questioning some random guy with 5 posts on a message board and not taking his word over the scouting services, the offer sheets,
Yeah, if only he said this about Isaac

I'll check in from time to time. I like to follow the IL kids and give a little perspective since I know everyone is from different states and the highlights may not tell the entire story.

I dont want to sound negative on Isaac either. I think his measurables and results at camps speak for themselves. Kid is a man out there. Ive heard a couple different rumors about Isaac and JCA playing on ESPN week 1. One was the game I mentioned earlier. The other one would be special.
Whoops, I guess he thinks the kid is pretty talented after all and simply wants to see his potential tested against a quality opponent

and what I see with my own two eyes on tape.
If your eyes can't tell that his competition is lousy, then you probably shouldn't be relying upon them.

It doesn't mean he isn't a talented prospect. It means your vouching for his competition level, with no actual evidence or data for why, is very suspect

Oh, I understand you perfectly well. You are overly sensitive because someone on an Ohio State message board (who is not a Buckeye fan, by the way) had the audacity to say that one of Michigan's top recruits isn't the all-world player that every Wolverine fan makes him out to be.
The ridiculous thing is he didn't even say that. He made it clear that he's very talented, doesn't mean to denigrate the kid and is looking forward to an actual measuring stick this fall, as opposed to the lousy competition he played so far.

Not offended by the questioning. I think you should question, just as I question the rankings. Understand I am a HS football fan, I enjoy it the most and I like to follow the local kids, thats why I am a big 10 fan instead of a UofI or Northwestern Fan. Its blasphemy but I'm partial to UM and tOSU because you two tend to represent the Big 10 best. But other than Nebraska and Penn St (now) I pull for all B10 schools.

I'm pretty sure you all have seen the 11 minute highlight film for Isaac. On that film there is an opponent, Naz (navy helmets with an N, white tops, navy pants), they played formidable defense. I believe there are a total of 2 highlights from that game. Naz tied for the conference championship with the Marist team I mentioned earlier.

Naz was defeated 7-35 in the 2nd round of the 6A playoffs. (Naz beat JCA 24-21).

Carmel of Mund. was defeated 9-14 in the 2nd round of 7A playoffs (JCA beat CoM on the last minute Isaac TD catch 32-31) The 9 points was the only time they were held below 26, their opponent lost 30-13 the following round. In other words, they had been scoring a lot on bad defenses. (they scored 63 on Marist.

Marist was defeated 28-48 in the 1st round of 8A playoffs (Marist beat JCA 56-51) . They scored 64 on Carm of Mund, 56 on JCA, 52 on Marian. Their playoff loss was to Homewood Flossmoor. Bailey & Bolingbrook were beating H-F 41-7 in the 1st half before coasting in the 2nd.

The other teams in their conference arent worth the mention, but here's a link to the conference results page. Click the East Suburban Catholic tab http://ihsa.org/SportsActivities/Bo...esStandingsResults.aspx?url=/data/fb/conf.htm

Then JCA actually drops into the 5A playoffs and plays worse teams than they play in conference. This is why they perform so much better than their conference mates who were ALL eliminated easily and early from larger classes. Most of their playoff opponents are small suburban schools with no football tradition or small rural schools

In the championship game they played Montini. Montini played Loyola (my school) in week 2. the entire game can be seen here although you only need the 1st 15 minutes to understand. The score was 28-7 a minute into the 2nd qtr.

The level of defenses that Isaac plays in comparison to Bailey isnt comparable. H-F wouldve been the best defense that JCA had seen all year if they played them. To Bailey that was no defense at all. The people that do the rankings dont know that. People that follow the sport do.

In general, does IL. high school football get a lot of support?

I'd say it gets decent support. Nothing like TX or OH. But depending on the weather and the game you can get several thousand people at a game. The papers dont cover as much as they used to before the economy failed but we love our football.

I think our playoff system hurts the sport though. Too many classes, regional seedings instead of true seedings, some schools multiplied too much, others not enough.

We have a game in Ireland next season. That takes a lot of support.
East St Louis travels the country and brings in teams around the country, that takes support. Maine South and Sacred Heart Griffin travel the country for 7on7 in the summer, that takes support. JCA probably gets inexcess of 5000 hometown fans per game. Bolingbrook gets like 2 new uni's every year, I dont think they wear the same combo twice in a season.

I've always said IDC if he doesn't come to OSU based on that film of his team's competition...which seems to be getting some serious debating over. I'm not sure why bc they're better D-VI teams in Ohio than Isaac's competition. I'm glad that B1G fan showed this with proof of the Ill. HS website and his insight to it being right there in Ill. Green and Ez-e (as I like to call him) are just fine with me...as long as Issac's doesn't go to TTUN or the whiners of Wisconsin...I could care less where he goes.
