Ty Isaac (official thread)

I want to see Isaac against a decent defense. Against his schedule he is a MONSTER. However, only one of those teams that they played last season in 14 games played any sort of defense what-so-ever. I think Isaac plays against Providence next year which would be BY FAR the toughest D they will see.

I dont know guys, I'm just not sold that he can produce against a formidable defense. The same with Treadwell, although he may have went head to head with Standifer, I'll check the schedule. Of the 3 major skilled position recruits in IL I'd rank them in this order: 1. Bailey 2. Isaac 3. Treadwell.

Knowing a little something about the opponents in each players film helps me put into context their season #'s.

For example, my team (Loyola) played in week 2 the same team Isaac played in the Championship game. Their defense was THE worst defense of any team we faced all season that was considered good(and 3rd worst overall in 14 games). So I take the championship game with a grain of salt. Another team they faced (Marist, tied for conference championship) that Isaac put up great #'s against allowed 63, 51, and 48 points in consecutive weeks to unimpressive teams (51 to Isaac and JCA).

Now I wait with much anticipation for week 1 of the 2012 season because thats the only game I trust to get a good read on Isaac.

Good stuff, thanks for your input...keep posting here. That was the one question I always had about Isaac. The competition is just awful on defense. I can tell he has a killer skillset, but seeing how that translates against better competition will be interesting.

I'll check in from time to time. I like to follow the IL kids and give a little perspective since I know everyone is from different states and the highlights may not tell the entire story.

I dont want to sound negative on Isaac either. I think his measurables and results at camps speak for themselves. Kid is a man out there. Ive heard a couple different rumors about Isaac and JCA playing on ESPN week 1. One was the game I mentioned earlier. The other one would be special.

yeah...state championship teams usually don't suck...and Ty Isaac ran for almost 600 yards on an Illinois state championship team.

You are literally the only person I have ever seen that would suggest that Bailey is even in the same class as Isaac and Treadwell let alone rated higher than them. Just saying.

There's many who question the competition Isaac plays. He seems to know IL football pretty well. Don't be offended.

Yeah, that defense wasn't very good...

a guy with 5 posts knows IL football pretty well? How do you know this? All 5 of his posts tell you this? By the way, who says I am offended? Can't I question this guy without being offended?

State championship teams might not suck but the defenses of ones that give up 600+ yards do.

And a guy with nine posts knows Michigan football pretty well? Are you the pot or the kettle?

well JCA has produced quite a bit of talent over the years, and they play some of the best competition in the state of Illinois, and Ty Isaac just shattered every record that school had as a junior and scored I believe 54 touchdowns total in one season.

He has offers from every school in the country and is rated as a 5* by most services. He is the #1 RB on USC's board, and they only have like 15 offers to hand out and are being very selective with their offers this class.

Forgive me for questioning some random guy with 5 posts on a message board and not taking his word over the scouting services, the offer sheets, and what I see with my own two eyes on tape.

yeah...where am I claiming in any 9 posts to be some kind of HS football expert talking about competition and what not? Good reading comprehension.
Oh, I understand you perfectly well. You are overly sensitive because someone on an Ohio State message board (who is not a Buckeye fan, by the way) had the audacity to say that one of Michigan's top recruits isn't the all-world player that every Wolverine fan makes him out to be.

If you read his post, he clearly states that he's seen these teams play his own. He also provides some pretty good evidence that the teams don't play defense very well. I think questioning his ranking of the 3 players is totally fair game, but not sure how you can question him when he lays out facts (i.e. Isaac's opponents).

Hello, double-speak. You're clearly calling him out for his criticism of that team.

He backs it up with evidence and data of their other defensive failures leading into the title game.

You back up your argument with... what exactly? That he sucks at ranking players? Very relevant to the topic at hand.

...kinda makes it sound like you know how to evaluate players.
