Ty Isaac (official thread)

Interesting no mention of OSU afte he just came on his 4th visit. Wonder how much interest (or vise versa) there really is.

Green says we are recruiting him the hardest. Isaac says we aren't. Granted, this is based just on what the kids are saying, but if true that's very telling.

It's not telling of anything. I was trying to make that point earlier - don't misinterpret "Ohio State is recruiting me hardest" to mean "Ohio State is recruiting him hardest." All it means is that we're working harder than the other schools involved for that particular kid, not that we're working harder on that kid than another kid. All we can infer from the fact that Wisky, ND, etc are recruiting Isaac harder than we are is that they're recruiting him harder than we are, not that we're recruiting him less than we're recruiting Green.

To give an example, if a 2* punter with no offers get's an offer from us and nobody else, we're automatically recruiting him harder than anybody else is. If we also offer a 5* QB who has 76 offers, and says Bama is recruiting him the hardest, it doesn't mean we're going after the punter harder.

Your example here is entirely not valid to the two recruits you are talking about. Isaac and Green aren't exactly that far apart talent wise and both have ridiculous offer lists. When comparing two very similarly ranked players and one says that we are recruiting him the hardest out of his 20 offers and the other since we aren't in the top 5 for effort out of his 20, that can be very telling. Especially since they both have offers from a lot of the same schools.
Also, UFM's mantra of "Go hard" and his own documented history of going balls to the wall after players he really wants indicates that if he really wants a player, that player knows it instantly and OSU won't be outworked.
As stated, it's harder to judge due to it just being the kids' opinions and statements, but these top level kids generally know when one school is coming after them harder than another.

Could likely be something as simple as in Green's mind we could be THE offer and in Isaac's mind we could be just ANOTHER offer.

My example was to illustrate the point that you can't take "they're recruiting me harder than another school" to mean "they want me more than any other recruit." And the kid's opinion can be factual, it still doesn't mean he's our #1 target at that position. Girl A is flirtier with me that Girl B, but that doesn't mean Girl A isn't going after some other guy harder than she's going after me.

Do agree that it may be this. It's so hard to know since coaches can't comment on recruits until they sign. Especially ones so similarly ranked/talented.
