Game Thread tOSU @ Sparty, Nov 8th @ 8pm ET, ABC

I'm expecting our OL to get exposed again.

Expecting an MSU victory unfortunately.
I think the revenge factor will be enough for us and if we get worked like we did against PSU/VT up front again then I think we have to look at what kind of plays were called to help these guys get set up for success. Anyone can make an OL look stupid if they keep running the same running plays and have no variety of when they throw. If it goes Dive, Zone read, Deep pass (on 3rd and long to boot) then yes it becomes much easier to take chances with your pressure packages. We must throw the ball on any and all downs to keep them guessing but so far 3 years of play calling tells us it'll be a surprise if we do.

I keep hearing it's MSU's experience against our youth? They have more returning starters but IMO they lost a ton of talent that thus far hasn't been "reloaded" like some may think. Make no mistake about it they ARE NOT as good in the back 7. They're not as good at LB and they are no where near as good at Corner.

Granted Sparty lost a ton, but Ohio State lost what would have been a Heisman candidate and 80% of its offensive line. If Ohio State had either or both returning for this game, I'd think not only would Ohio State be favored but they would likely win.

It'll be close, but in the end I think Sparty will win by 4-6 points. I want Ohio State to win and I think this team has worked their asses off to get to this point, but I think the growth and maturation process hasn't quite reached the point where I feel optimistic about a win in this circumstance.

Are you guys all nuts? This is Sparty we are talking about. Sparty. One win against us and we are forgetting what Sparty does best.

They gave up 40+ to an Oregon offense that doesn't look much more impressive than ours. They gave up 30+ to Purdue.

They have won their B1G games by an average of 20 ppg. We have won by an average of almost 30. And their "amazing" defense has given up more points than ours in conference play. And the overall record of their four conference opponents is 18-17, while ours is 19-16.

And above all...they are Sparty.

The weather will be cold, windy, and possibly some light rain or snow. Pretty much the weather Ohio State has played in the past three games...last two being at night. We're used to this. This type of game comes down to running the football...and we have a better run game, and run defense than these guys.

How many players do they have that you're scared of? How many scary players do we have? Enough said.

34-17 Buckeyes.

You could very well be right.

However, until this team and coaching staff actually gets the job done, I'll remain skeptical at least insofar as it relates to Saturday night.

I think one of the biggest factors will be 4th and short. Meyer should go for it on their side of the field, and he will. If we convert 2/3 4th downs, or 3/4, I say we win. If we only get 1/3 then I say they win. Another important aspect is red zone scoring. Sparty has allowed 12 TDs in 19 trips. Ohio State has to get the ball in the end zone, no field goals.

MSU has had two weeks to prepare for this game, so I hope Meyer and the staff have put a little extra time in leading up to this week. They're going to need it. Halftime adjustments are also key here. MSU was up 24-18 on Oregon at half. They were outscored 28-3 the rest of the way. The Buckeyes should look to capitalize on Dantonio's complacency again this week.

Sparty is 8-2 against the Buckeyes over the last 10 games. They are 1-4 in the last 5 games in East Lansing against the Buckeyes. We're talking about Sparty here! Sparty is 3-6-1 against the spread over the last 10 matchups with the good guys - the only question is where are they going to set the over? Go Bucks!

Reverse that.
