Game Thread tOSU @ Sparty, Nov 8th @ 8pm ET, ABC

:oh:
Are you guys all nuts? This is Sparty we are talking about. Sparty. One win against us and we are forgetting what Sparty does best.

They gave up 40+ to an Oregon offense that doesn't look much more impressive than ours. They gave up 30+ to Purdue.

They have won their B1G games by an average of 20 ppg. We have won by an average of almost 30. And their "amazing" defense has given up more points than ours in conference play. And the overall record of their four conference opponents is 18-17, while ours is 19-16.

And above all...they are Sparty.

The weather will be cold, windy, and possibly some light rain or snow. Pretty much the weather Ohio State has played in the past three games...last two being at night. We're used to this. This type of game comes down to running the football...and we have a better run game, and run defense than these guys.

How many players do they have that you're scared of? How many scary players do we have? Enough said.

34-17 Buckeyes.

I don't think each conference deserves to have representation automatically. If there are 2 SEC teams better than all but 2 other teams, they belong in the final four. I don't think there are this year....but that doesn't mean there hasn't been or won't be 2 teams from the same conference that are better than teams from other conferences.
But how do you know who deserves a spot when schedules don't overlap outside of conference play? In 2006, tOSU and tsun were clearly the top two teams. Until the bowls.

A playoff was supposed to remove some subjectivity from the process. If you deny a conference champ in favor of a team that didn't win their conference, it's a sham.

That sounds almost like a mid-majors argument.

But 8 teams would prolly solve this.

They want so badly for our beloved Bucks to be irrelevant....sad.....I think they do their best to put us down when they can because that opportunity doesn't come all that often, the question becomes why the bias?

I don't mean to be the devils advocate here, but if we go back to the day of 09-06-14, (a Saturday we all would like to forget), I think that all of these 3 losses, pretty much set the wheels in motion for ESPN to start judging on what to think about the BIG and how bad we looked in their eyes.

Plus the week before that Wisconsin loses to LSU in the 4th quarter, a lead that wisky had by 14 points . And they have not let up on us since then. I don't know about them being bias, but we sure didn't help our own cause neither..
And after our loss to V/Tech, I was hoping that they would be for real, but as it turns out all of their losses sure made us look bad I guess

What's the point of that if we already know 1 SEC team is better than the other and decided it on the field?
With all 5 conferences having CCGs or a round-robin, there should be no need for 2 schools from any conference.
This isn't a Tournament Cup; it's an extension of the regular season.

I agree.... Last year they WON because they hit 3 big plays (all three for TD's). I do not see them sustaining huge amounts of drives to be honest so the only way I see MSU winning is if they hit a few like last year. Hell they hit more than 3 big plays now that I think about it (some of them went for key first downs, but not TD's). Shut down the run, double Lippett, and get after Cook.

I'd die to see Apple+ Powell double Lippett, give Grant single coverage on their #2 guy, and play a single safety deep with massive pressure packages from the LB's. This way we take away their ONE player that can hit a big play (lippett) and Grant is far better then their #2 WR so he's eliminated, and now we just have to shut down their run game.

I also agree JAX in that we have so many more weapons to account for but for me it just boils down to are we going to call plays to get them the ball in space? If we do we'll win and if we don't we'll lose. If we lose IMO it'll be because we tried to play Standford football instead of the style that defeated these clowns with Oregon style football. Play fast, hit the seams, take shots, and keep them guessing.

If you can't Alabama the first time around what the hell will change the 2nd time around? I'm with you, win your conference you are in, and if you do not you do not get it.

If the west is much stronger then the east in the SEC then that's their freaking fault. In the off season rearrange them and start again next year.

If we lose to MSU for example every year then we should NOT be in the playoffs. That's the consequences of losing in your conference. The fact that we WILL have at least 2 teams from the SEC is troubling and honestly I hope that the coach Meyer or Dino throw the biggest public fit whichever one of us wins out and if we are left out. Besides what makes more sense anyways as far as driving interest? Including all regions of the USA or just three states (Mississippi, Alabama or Florida)? The whole Midwest would watch a team like our bucks or MSU go into battle... if we are left out is the area really going to stay tuned in? I bet for parts but not all of it... Such a biased system with the biggest conflict of interest I've ever seen. I hope they get nailed for that conflict of interest whether we get left out or not.

We were told 4 teams would solve this. Now they want to stack the deck for 1 conference.
An 8 team playoff... now that would be a mid-major's argument.
I half to admit that I never really wanted playoffs as I enjoyed the bowls as they were but I did grow tired of the conference chatter and I assumed that playoffs would end that. But that was a bad assumption on my part. That said, I always felt that 8 teams would be better than 4. That just my opinion though.

I don't want CFB turned into NCAAB. if you don't win your conference, IE are the regional champion, you can't be the national champion.

I am with you, I enjoy the bowls and the conference tie into the Rose Bowl. New Year's Day was the greatest day. Whether it is the BCS or the playoffs, someone is always going to be pissed because they were left out.
