It's recruiting so there's always going to be room for improvement. I'm falling into the category of gaining from the portal more than just high school at this point. I don't want these kids who haven't done jack shit to earn money for their schools to dictate paydays. The whole point was for them to get a piece of the pie that the universities get from advertising their Name, Image and Likeness right? Eliminate slave labor which I'm all for. How these kids can say they are worth all this money and haven't even been to a training camp yet is what bothers me. You can lose any of them at any time with no contributions to the school and no compensation for lost investment. I say crank out the big bucks for the JTs and Harrisons, Eichenbergs and Johnsons of the world and show people what they can earn while incentivising work ethic and stability over possible potential. The same feelings I have always had in business. Don't give big hiring bonuses to sharp kids who have never worked when you can reward the guy who's helped build your company and has proven ability.
I'm all for putting new people on a "prove it" plan. Problem is the market that's throwing around hiring bonuses like it's monopoly money right now. I've said in many threads that I think the NIL's just need to make better agreements to avoid losing the investment in a kid that bolts.
