2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

It makes sense when you consider this.... In September, people were taking about Ohio State's class of 2018 being the best of all time. That's the best recruiting class for any school for any year ever. This class was supposed to be out of this world, off the charts, up to eleven, etc. Now it's just really really good.

So yeah, that's a bit of a let down if you look at it from that lofty perspective.
They were doing that with the last class too. That one worked out okay too

Will be really interesting to see who is out there on the board after friday. Honestly I'm kinda stunned so many guys faxed in today. I think most schools were shocked by this.. and this also changes the calculus for next year's class as well with this many signing in Dec.

Its a new frontier now. The signing period just got cut by 1.5mos for the best recruits... And now coaches must pull double duty while also doing bowl prep.

To me, the early signing period, has been 2 things.

A cut bait date for weak fish.
A chance to quit baby sitting the strong ones, ala Gill per Urbans presser.

That’s about it.

Now, the staff will regroup, zero in and finish as needed.

There is an old saying in the investing world that I love. You don’t know who is swimming naked until the tide goes out. Well, I know several players much better now and the size of their junk.

The darkest day in tOSU Football Histiry the decommittment of Orlando Pace Jack Tatum and Lawrence Taylor along with the news that our head coach is suddenly in his 50’s. Will we win a game next year will we field a team. Twitter and the internet are “the twilight zone “.

According to ESPN, we only had the 2nd highest rated recruiting class yesterday because Urban can't close the deal.

Hope we end up with:
NPF
Rasheed Walker
Tyreke Smith
Jayson Oweh (unlikely)

That would make it the #1 class again.

Anyone know what Andrew Chatfield's status is? And Daniel Carson? Much needed bodies on the DE side.

With the loss of Woodbey I must admit that it is hard for me to get excited about today. And in fairness to all the doom and gloomers consider that 2 weeks ago we had commitments from or were the favorite for the #1 OT, #2 DE, #2 Safety and #4 QB in the country. And we lost them ALL.

A little sadness is in order.

I'm not remotely sad. For most of my existence I had no idea who Ohio State was recruiting, where that class was ranked by "experts", or who changed their mind on signing day. I rooted for whoever showed up to play in September and it's worked out fine, so for me this 21st century "ZOMG Recruiting!" stuff is just entertainment.

In the end, a kid who turns down a football scholie to Ohio State just shows me we really didn't want them anyway. After all, they didn't really want to be a Buckeye. It's their loss.
