2018 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Hyperbole at its finest...bravo.
Not really, you've led an argument/discussion on Dabo using Meyers age to get Carman like it was a big deal. But going over the top to prove a point that has been proven incredibly wrong is what youve mastered. Ill bow out and enjoy that OSU has the #1 class and our coaches are killing it(and probably using methods to get kids that we'll hardly know about) and allow you to wave your fist on your lawn saying OSU is better morally than every other team(sounds eerily like the Pedsters:roll1:)

It is a big deal, seeing as we lost out on a top-notch talent in a much-needed position due in no small part to negative recruiting. Is our class outstanding? Yep, and regardless of what you or jWins thinks I'm stoked about it. But that doesn't the class could've been even better--especially at an area of need--had Dabo not decided to take the low road. But, feel free to keep labeling the pointing out of shady, underhanded tactics as "crying".

When I get about 30 minutes I'm going to split all the garbage off...

Did we say that, while not knowing for sure that he would or would not be?

.
well considering the last few years it was him going to the NFL (or harbaugh), I'm going with yes.

Unless the question is a more useful one like this:

Did they bring up some rumors they had heard about their rival?

P.s. multiple osu insiders have said he probably won't be here another ten years, making Dabo the purveyor of strategic yet not unfounded rumors. .

As for the second part, you're right. Overstating or manipulating a kid with a rumor is unkind but he still gets a full ride afterwards. The other loses his full ride because he's in a one way relationship and they found someone better

At the end of the day, a lot of top recruits look at which team is hot now, hence Georgia, Clemson, and Alabama gaining ground late. If the 2017 Buckeyes don't shit the bed in Iowa I do not doubt this recruiting class would have finished stronger. Don't cry about standard negative recruiting - cry about the 2017 team making Urban and company look weak.

Weak .. if Urban quit recruiting altogether and just took the top 20+ plus kids who offered to sign at tOSU they’d win 10 games.

Any worries about who we missed make me laugh when I go back amd look at kids we "missed on". Quinn Blanding spurning OSU for uva and OSU "settling" on some kids named Malik Hooker... Damien Harris choosing Bama and OSU instead getting Mike Weber. Not getting Terry Beckner and then getting Dremont Jones, and the list goes on. Getting the top class is nice, but this doesn't mean a thing until a few years down the road. We were all stoked about getting Torrance Gibson a few years ago, and thought that would be our RG3, Cam Newton, Lamar jackson, and if not then possibly be our game changing WR. And now we look and he's neither, and I don't even believe he's at a college. Recruiting is a funny thing, and everyone has high or low emotions on NSD, but yet these kids are barely seen by next fall, and we won't know their worth for a while(if at all). Enjoy the ride, the early NSD is going to be a crazy soap opera from here on our especially with coaches not knowing what Players are going pro

That Iowa game was not the end all be all. Like is always known in recruiting, one game doesn't make a kids decision. Brenton cox wanted to stay close to family, Emory jones liked the recruiting game attention and wanted the opportunity to play from day 1, and Woodbey is probably a little bit of both. Carman had been giving hints of leaving for months and everyone still thought we'd land him, and also Meyer recruits nationally, getting those kids will be tough yearly when we're not only fighting the home team but also every top school as well.

I agree. I feel like kids that don't choose tOSU are missing out on something. Something special is going on here that goes way beyond the field of play me thinks.

I disagree. If Georgia and Clemson lost their conference title games, I believe the recruiting landscape would be significantly different today. They basically split the top ten recruits.

Just a couple of quick observations.

Clemson and Georgia have 7 of the top 10 players in the country.

I have been waiting for Saban to pull out the whip and gain ground down the stretch. It didn't happen. Last year Alabama signed 7 of the top 34. So far this year they have 1 of the top 63. There are not that many left. Following up on Dabo's approach, it is easier to recruit against a man who will be 70 when you are a senior.

I am amazed at the number of players who are taking advantage of the early signing period - which doesn't end today by the way.
